Spark plugs for older Merc (80s)?

Welcome to iboats Before you start spending money replacing parts that are likely fine... Can the Ignition system produce a Spark that can jump a 3/8" Gap, on both Cylinders? Have you tested the Compression? Does the Prime Bulb get firm and stay firm? If it still doesn't fire, try spraying a bit...

    RPM at cranking speed

I am curious as to how one would spin an engine faster than cranking speed, without it actually running, which in itself means the Switchbox is functioning. I will assume the testing of the Switchbox is actually done with specific Electronic Test Equipment

I meant, that the Rollers are too small Diameter wise, and that they permit parts of the hull to contact the Trailers Frame

    1972 Evinrude V4 100hp Selectric issues

Take a Picture of the control box with the Cover removed. As you know there are moving Parts in there as well as wires, the moment you moved the Go Go Lever, the engine died. Check for any movement or touching of wires to the Lever, Cable, or Housing

    1996 130HP Evinrude

That makes it sound like a Fuel Delivery Problem. Does the fuel line run directly from the Tank to the Fuel/VRO pump, or are there quick connectors to at the Tank and Engine? if so, have you ever tried running the Engine bypassing the Connector? Have you drained the carb bowls? A bit of Fuel...

    1972 Evinrude V4 100hp Selectric issues

Did you sync the Carbs to each other, and to the Ignition Advance? It sounds ok on the Muffs, but you need to have the boat in the the water so the Engine experiences the real operation world. Idle Speed needs to be set on the water, with engine in forward gear. Don't try setting the Idle Speed...

    Anyone Seen these?

I remember a lot of People balking at the Cost of the Enertia back in the day, when I was Praising it. I was lucky as my Dealer, just let me take it off of his Boat to try. It made several differences in how the Boat Handled on Plane, It's Tenacious Grip on the water, and how raised both the...

    1962 Merc 450 restoration ..

It would be easier to inspect them if they were Clean. It is hard to tell if those are pits in the Rollers, especially on the Needle Bearing inside the Roller Bearing, or just Dirt. Bearings are aren't all that Expensive, beats being broken down in the Middle of a Lake. However when replacing a...

    Swapping out rollers for bunks

With all that extra Timber on there, I hope you aren't exceeding the Trailer's Capacity. The Boat needs to be a few inches further forward as the Rear Rollers should be right under the Transom. That would still apply if Bunks were used The hull to fender clearance shouldn't be an issue as...

    Engine no power under load

On the earliest Q-jets there was a Tab, that prevented the Air Valve from opening, unless the Coke was fully open. The Secondary Throttle Shaft could be fully open, but the blocked Air Valve did not allow much air through. Later Q-jets got rid of the Interlock on the Air Valve, and modified how...
