1980 Sea Ray Sundancer Battery problem

Sounds like your reading a capacitor discharge somewhere in the circuit. Why did you have to disable the voltage regulator?

    Proof of value

Contact one of the dedicated Marine Insurance companies like Boat US or Progressive. Ask for an actual cash value policy and see what they say. An agreed value policy will cost you more, but may be a way around it

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Unfortunately, washing doesn't prevent staining. I was religious about washing my first boat after use. Didn't take long for rust stains to begin appearing out from under rail stanchions, joints in the hand rail, heads of screws, etc. Anywhere moisture was trapped for any length of time. My...

Can electrical power be pulled from a 25hp Merc outboard?

So it comes down to run time. Using your model your looking at roughly 4:1 run time to maintain. Assuming a long day of fishing is 4 to 5 hours. Runtime would need to be 1 to 1.2 hours to maintain. Possible, but not likely running a 16’ boat with 25 hp on a lake Something to think about

Can electrical power be pulled from a 25hp Merc outboard?

The Striker draws 0.75 amps. To keep it running for 8 hours your looking at a small, 6AH rechargeable battery. The 12v, 8AH battery (8x3x2) used in the solar fencer outback is 8AH for $19. Going to a “2 day” ~14AH battery would run roughly $40. Using the motor to charge battery brings up...

What to check / replace on a boat ?

Hours of use, not date of manufacture is what matters. I change plugs on condition. I don’t replace unless they’re worn out or I’m feeling guilty because I can’t remember the last time I changed them. I’d say every 2 to 3 years tops for me.

    Nothing to starter

Starter relay is actually two switches in one. Commonly called a Master/Slave relay One, heavy duty relay switches the (high) current demand of the starter motor. The other, a low current control relay, connected to the key, is use to control the heavy duty relay. Either one or both...

    98 Evinrude 200 v6 2 tell tale streams

My 1997 is completely different. The top hoses go from one thermostat to the via connections on the underside of the power pack mount. The tell tale comes out on the under side of the block Temp: 140 thermostat. Figure 140 max if the system is working properly.

    Lowrance Lcx-15 ci

I know the unit all too well. Got in a huge fight with the dealer for installing one on my then new boat when I specified a Furuno unit. Replaced after 6 months. First and last Lowrance product I’ve ever owned It’s coming up 1/1/2001 because it can’t read the updated satellite data with...

    Nothing to starter

Quite often associated with a current feeding voltage back into the circuit via ground. Could very well a bad relay leaking power back into the control circuit through ground. I would test switch at helm to make sure it’s not shorted or damaged then head on back and test the relay for...

    Lowrance Lcx-15 ci

The unit is close, if not 25 years old. The GPS constellation has been updated and reconfigured a number of times, not to mention the software changes done since then. Software updates where required in 1999 and again in 2019 to address time and date rollovers issues. Without these updates...

Such a Thing As Making the Hull Too Rigid?

I want things in a structure to be stiff, not rigid. Even then you can very easily get yourself into trouble rather quickly. In a structural world everything is dynamic. Not only do things need to flex to accommodate from normal loading, you also you have to account for forces introduced from...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

The only "stainless" steel when used in saltwater is 316 Stainless steel. 304 stainless will "rust" in short order in a marine (saltwater) environment.

    Hummingbird Depth Finder question

If it does it while tied to the dock, you have a bad transducer. I wouldn't connect the old head unit unless you've confirmed the transducer frequency and output power are the same as your old unit. You would not be happy with the results of a mix matched pairing ;)

    AM/FM Radio Issue.

The charger on my boat is about as cheap as it gets ($4 Walmart) and it doesn’t have this problem. Even if the box is noisy, the radio shouldn’t be picking up the signal unless you have a grounding issue.

115 Pro XS CT 4 stroke losing RPM and speed

Conditions (wind and tide) play a huge roll in fuel usage. Especially on craft with as much windage as a pontoon. I’m running a boat designed to run in adverse conditions. My fuel usage almost doubles going from flat calm to a 2’ chop.

    Hummingbird Depth Finder question

Turbulence is the only thing that would cause a transducer to fluctuate that wildly. Different transducers have different performance characteristics. Unless you replaced the old with the same transducer don’t count on it being installed correctly. Could have gotten a bad transducer right out...
