    Welcome to iboats There are Splines on the Drive Shaft that have to mesh with ones on the Crank Shaft, same goes for the Shift Rod. Also the Water Tube has to go into a Grommet on the Water Pump.     3rd party Manuals tend to have a lot to be desired, Typos, wrong info, usually inadequate Photos/Drawings, are my experiences with them. I used to find many Manuals on ebay Have you tried Ken Cook? A lot of Mercury Dealers will order the correct manual

    I think Glastron had in it's little Salesman book that the SX175 would do around 42 with the 3 liter. I used to have a couple of copies of those books, but I can't find them.

    On my VP, the Two Block Drains are connected to the Hose that is capped. It is used to flush the Block, and then drain it.

    The propshaft is not engaged to either the Forward or Reverse Gear when it is in Neutral, so it can spin freely. Removing the Lower unit from the motor takes the Forward, Reverse Gears, and the Pinion out of the Equation. Once it is off try rotating the Flywheel, if the Motor now turns freely...
