Marvel Mystery oil in a 2004 5.0 engine

When it sputters and dies - take the coil wire off the distributor , ground it , and see if you get spark. Also the crab style MPI distributor caps are known throuble spots have you replaced yours. Have you measured the fuel pressure especially when it dies?

    Mercruiser 3.0 Rebuild or not

You may have to change the oil 3 times or so to get any milk cleaned out. Buy the cheapest oil you can put only 3 qts in, run it at the dock or on the muffs, keep changing the oil and filter until it stays clean.

    Mercruiser engine alignment sideways

There is some side to side movement that is normal. When I did my engine a few years back I used the witness marks on the alginement tool to verify side to side alignment as well. We just shoved the engine sideways a little until it was equal grease lines on the tool. It helps to take some...

    Exhaust Risers 4.3 L V6 carburated

I think merc used the restrictor gasket with the warm manifold cooling setup. If you have a cooling hose feeding the bottom of the manifold and a separate cooling hose feeding the elbows, the restrictor gasket is used. If you have the cold manifolds where the constant flow of cooling water where...

    Carburator frustration

How did you observe a noticeable increase in fuel delivery from the secondaries at the dock? when you think the secondaries open what rpm? You were thinking these issues were at or 2500 or less. At 2500rpm a 5.0will need 187 cfm , the secondary air valve isnt opening yet. You will hear the...

    Carburator frustration

when advancing the throttle on a carb with gas that is off the engine the only thing that will squirt gas in is the accelerator pump which is on the primary side only. Fuel will only come out out of the veturis when air is moving through them to create a pressure drop. you seem overly focused...
