    Just remove the high speed jets and verify they are clean,-----Can be done with carburetors in place.-----Or use 100LL aviation fuel at end of the season.-----It has a much , much longer shelf life.

    Nope----There really is no difference between a commercial model and a recreation model.----Well----Maybe the marketing and the decals !

    Commercial 55 models were marketed in the 1980's-----The motor in this topic is clearly one of those !!----Recoil starter and no oil injection on them----3 cylinder gearcase was adapted to them because the 2 cylinder gearcase is not robust !

    An E-tec behaves like a 4 stroke during the compression phase and part of the power stroke.----E-tec cannot run on a 50:1 mix.----It will run , but not for long !!

    Agreed----Huge difference in acceleration.-----I normally ran the boat with 21" stainless.----A 1970 115 Evinrude on a 16' Kennedy.

    Willing to bet that those 2 starters are assembled wrong.-----Bottom cap not lined up with the notch.

    To tear one of these down , I believe you first need to remove the lower unit.----Then work up from there.-----A lot of work.

    Did a test myself,----Some years ago , same day , same boat , 3 different props.----19" , 21 " and 23" pitch.-----Boat speed was the same at 54 MPH.----Rpm of engine changed.-----Fact----For most folks , power torgue , RPM and boat speed are a mystery.

    Folks sometimes grease everything that moves.------On recoil starters some parts are not to be greased.

    The decals were used in 1987 model year.----I am not sure how a drain screw is used to determine a model year.
