    These have a stainless housing and stainless plate..-----Take a look first.----Unless it runs with lots of silt / sand you will only need an impeller !!!!

    Impeller is $30 and 99 times out of 100 that is all you need.-----Dealers / mechanics install kits to improve the bottom line.----Simple job.

    I can not see your motor.-----I do not see a serial #-----On some there is a tab you push at the back.--------Some a tab you pull on the front.-------Some have levers on the back one on each side ( underneath ) .-----Be easy if motor was in front of me.

    ???----Gearhousing ( driveshaft ) -----Looks like the impeller is listed there.-----Item #28.

    Motor needs a new impeller about every 3 years.----And if you buy a used motor the first thing needed is a new impeller.-----Still lots of people ( sellers and buyers ) who think a boat motor can be run dry.

    Those engines were very well made.------Parts new and used are easy to find.-----But only for those who know or want to learn to maintain them.----At $100 + / hr they are no good for somebody who needs to run to a shop for every little issue.

    Earlier posting said that the grease has been dealt with.------The cable normally pulls it back against the idle stop.

    Normally done COLD !!----Plugs out.----Pull it over with a recoil till gauge stops going up.-----No need to open throttle on a 2 stroke.

    Remove broken pieces from keyways.-----Lap the tapers.-----Clean the tapers.----Install proper key.------Assemble clean and dry.----Torque flywheel nut.

    Yes they will.-----Issue will be the new style wiring.----Easy to change adapt for that.------Easier to swap lower unit and cowling I think.-----Drive shaft upper spline area may need minor modification.

    ????------The 28 was in 62 / 63 / 64.-----Became the 33 in 65.-----Different cylinder head.,----The 33 used a lot of the 40 HP parts.-----The lower units on the 33 and 40 used bigger bearings than modern 40 HP motors !

    HP decals are often a result of marketing !------And remember that shopping / choices were different in 1962.-----The 33 used the 40 HP crankshaft and connecting rods.----A simple rugged motor.----I might rebuild one of a few as a spare for the grandson.
