    ----The spark jump of 7/16" is for electronic ignition model of 1977 and newer.----What is your motor doing / not doing ?----What trouble shooting has been done ?

    I cannot see all the details on your motor.----But I think that one wire goes from a small terminal on the solenoid to the safety switch under the magneto plate.----And that safety switch only has ONE wire going to it.----Have you pulled flywheel to inspect ignition coils ?

    No wires ( picture #3 ) attach to that drain plug on the carburetor bowl.-----And where is your starter solenoid ?----It appears to be missing !-----Starter appears to be one from an older motor as well.-----The generator / voltage regulator must work on this motor or damage the clutch springs...

    There is no bolt to remove near the starter !!-----There is no shift rod / linkage on a 1972 model !-----The shifting is electric.----Therefor you must find the wires.

    Find the green and blue wires that go down beside the engine block.-----Slide the rubber covers back.----Undo the knife connectors.------Attach something to pull the wires back up.-----You do have all the bolts out ?-----There is one hidden under the trim tab.

    How much water?

    The water tube is supposed to stay in the exhaust housing.----It usually does.-----If it comes out stuck in the pump you MUST first install it in the exhaust housing !!

    Did the copper water tube stay in the pump when you pulled it apart ?------Did the water tube stay in the grommet in the exhaust housing ?-----On assembly the copper water tube must be installed in the exhaust housing first.-----Sorry , I cannot look over your shoulder to see how you are working...

    Lots of those 22 cube outboards here in my shed.--Easy to fix and maintain!!!--No gators in my area.

    You need a flywheel ( $727 for a new one ) / stator / powerpack / coils / hardware.------Likely too much in beer tokens to buy that new.---A 77 or newer model is the ticket.----Often can find a parts motor for $200 or less.----Depends on your location.

    There are lots of posts on here where a novice added more water to the test bucket.-----Reported that all was then good.-----Not the same as a boat getting on plane with the pump primed !!
