    I would do both. couplings fail from failure to do an annual alignment inspection and u-joint inspection. since you have twins. if one failed, the other is close to failing.

    service life can be about 10 years max if properly cared for. designed to last about 5 with reasonable care. The SUP's and kayaks are a bit longer.
