    But when these engines are docked there should be no water in them.-----A mystery as to why this occurs when engine is running or humid conditions while stopped.-----Hopefully they are using better alloys today.

    Your motor should start right up.----But what are the actual compression numbers ?----And have you confirmed that the electric primer valve is OPEN while cranking ?

    Are you raising the fast idle lever ?----Are you pushing the key in and holding it in while cranking it over.------Charge the battery and have it load tested.----Inspect starter motor internals.

    I have a similar 50 HP Yamaha parts motor.----Fresh water.-----Exact same corrosion issue.------Never saw this damage on Johnson / Evinrude from same bodies of water !!!!----So there must be lots more of the Yamaha motors with the same issue.

    All OMC products from OMC run on 50:1 from 1964 on.------Your 85 Evinrude 15 HP needs to run at 50:1 and 100:1 was a board room blunder.-----Get rid of that 100:1 sticker tomorrow !!----Service bulletin came out years ago to revert to 50:1.

    Stop-----Get a control box hooked up.-----It is a fuel injected motor.----It has an ECU / EMM that needs a power supply.-----Ignore your local " someone " on this motor.

    Agreed.----Look at pistons / rings via the bypass covers.----And don't worry about head bolts.-----And the heads are warped.----They all are after 50 years of service.----Refinish the heads before installing them with new gaskets.

    Get a couple of those round inspection ports.-----Remove seats on either side.-------Cut a holes in the floor.----Inspect foam core right down to the hull.------Install inspection ports.----Install the seats.

    Open low speed mixture needles 1/8th turn at a time and test run.

    I am not there to see or hear your motor.----Do the following.----Charge the battery.-----Load test the battery.----Take starter apart for inspection and ohm test.-----If the motor cranks slow there will be no spark !

    Great rugged motors !!----Have one myself here.-----Have a rare short ( 16" ) lower unit that I might install on a 1960 Leavens 15' boat with wings.
