Fuel pumps run on a PRESSURE pulse and not so much on vacuum !----I would never buy a new pump.-----A $7.00 diaphragm is about the only thing that can go wrong on these simple pumps.
Think to explain / answer here.----Post your compression numbers.-----Does spark jump a gap of at least 3/8" on all leads ?-----Checked flywheel key ?----Is high speed jet confirmed to be clean on the carburetors.----High speed jet is screwed into the very bottom of float bowls.
A manufacturer might say-------" wow , you bolt the drive on, you install the control box , install the electronics.----Push the button and go ".----No trained staff required perhaps.----Price advantage right there.
Cast iron is very porous.-----Corrosion goes in deeper than the eye can see.-----Easy to find a good used block and pistons.-----What does the crankshaft and bearings look like ???----Should be lots of donor motors in Wisconsin.
Boat in " great shape " I doubt it.----I suspect issues with the transom ( plywood core ) and perhaps the rust stains from motor mounting bolts are a clue.-----Most folks would use stainless there.----And install a new water pump impeller before launching this boat.
Replace both coils.-----And you need to position the coils for correct clearance with flywheel.-----There is a special tool to save time.----But hurry to ----leroysramblings-----Great tutorial on how to work on this simple magneto.
