    Well----If a carburetor is restricted / blocked it reduces the amount of fuel ( cooling from that fuel ) going in one cylinder.----Also reduces amount of oil.-----Check the oil recirculation hose and fittings as well.-----Motors need a new water pump impeller about every 5 years too.

    0438557 is the pump to use.----Remove pulse limiter as it is not needed for that pump.

    Up to you to do the inspection.-----Water pump and carburetors.------Find the cause or you will ne rebuilding it again and again.

    The model # tells me it is a 1981.----Time to take the lower unit apart for inspection and repair as needed.

    You are sure it is not a 1981 model ?----Check the gear oil.-----I would remove lower unit and check shift rod height.

    Yes , it could be a broken reed valve or one stuck open.

    Open the low speed mixture needle 1/4 turn at a time.----Inspect thermostat as they are often missing or stuck open.-----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" on both leads ?
