    Issues with the float or float valve.-----Needs to come apart once more.----I doubt that fuel can leak through the low speed mixture needle !

    Use a small screwdriver and hammer to take the nut off.-----No need to touch the starter that way.--------Put nut back on and give it bump to tighten.-----Method approved by owner of shop over 50 years ago.,-----Family still runs the shop today.-----Crude yes, but a big time saver in the day.

    Back in the day most folks learned how to adjust the carburetor.----You had to compensate for local atmospheric conditions .----Compensate for water temperature.----The adjustments were right there for a operator to use while underway to the fishing hole.

    If you do get it running then store motor with carburetor EMPTY.------An empty carburetor does not gum up.

    If that is not assembled correctly it may turn backwards.

    That is a " gas filled " tilt assist cylinder.----Perhaps the gas has leaked out.-----Power trim / tilt is easy to swap in.----Find a donor motor.

    Very typical.----Most of these motors in running condition have had the coils replaced.

    Drill a new hole for a new pin.----Or remove the broken pin and install a new pin there.----No need to overthink this.----Nothing to this.

    Correct.-----Any reading from ONE YELLOW to ground ?

    See the notch where the bolt comes out of the cap.-----There is a corresponding spot on the starter housing that fits in there.----Post a picture of the bottom of that housing.-----Do an ohm test on armature too.

    But good spark can jump a gap of 5/16" so why would a bit of corrosion stop it ??-----Good tools and simple testing makes outboard repair easy.

    Test stator ( yellow wires ) if good then replace regulator / rectifier.

    There are many folks now realizing how good the 9.9 / 15 HP Johnson / Evinrude 2 strokes are.------They can be lifted by an older person.----Stored in almost any position.----Run smooth if in good condition.
