Replacing the steel cable on a boat lift

I help a boat lift company every once in a while. they use one size cable on all lifts from 2k to 8k and 10k to 40k, only adjusting the amount of lines as the winders are all the same.

you know that the block is most likely cracked just under the manifold. it may also be cracked just above the pan rail on the inside.

OMC 3.8l dying at high rpm and weird cranking issue.

since you used the trim and it died, you have a bad connection somewhere - most likely that iffy battery cable could just spend $45 on a new mechanical fuel pump. vs the $100 for a marine rated electric fuel pump, the required oil pressure switch, relay, etc.

Volvo Penta AQ125/270 overheating raw water not pumping

You need water over the top of the drive to flood the impeller to prime it. That is 18" higher than tou can get with a tub

Ford 302 alternator proper amp size

You have to rewire your boat to use anything over a 42 amp alternator. It can be done, however you need to replace wiring from the alternator to the battery and the helm. You have to bypass the ammeter.

Volvo Penta AQ125/270 overheating raw water not pumping

STOP. Unless that tub is big enough to submerge the whole drive, the pump can not prime You toasted your impeller. Impellers do not "suck", they only push fluid and must be submerged to prime. So replace your impeller and use a set of muffs

    1400hrs 5.7l 2001

A 2001 boat should have between 1100 hours and 2200 hours if it was used With normal maintenance, 5000 hours plus is the norm. As Bondo states, boat motors are normally murdered by lack of maintenance and do not die of normal wear. Plus, I am willing to bet the key was left on more than once.

Coolant in 3 cylinders after winter storage? Hasn't been started

you have water pooled on top of the valve, and the valve and seat are rusted. your manifolds need to be acetone tested as visual inspection doesnt mean squat......as that is pooled water in the center port you need to pressure test the cooling water jacket and do a compression and leak down...

Coolant in 3 cylinders after winter storage? Hasn't been started

did you poke each and every drain in the block, manifolds, hoses, etc to ensure that water did drain? or does this have the 3-point or single point drain system which may or may not drain the block, heads, manifolds, etc.?
