    No Spark and Key wont turn the engine over.

    As far as I know it keeps the battery charged.-----Many motors ( 9.9 to 50 HP ) have electronic ignition and no battery or voltage regulator.

    Carpenters used to say----" measure 2 X and cut once "------So yes you can measure boat and the motor.-----Then determine the steps to take.

    The 50 HP ( same as the 48 HP ) long shaft with trim and tilt is listed at 218 LBS on these.

    Skeg Welding

    Whenever welding is done on a component there is a risk of distortion.------A welding shop that does these all the time would have a procedure in place.----Or they have likely made mistakes over the years and do not make them anymore.

    ???----How did you determine the weight of the 1988 model 48 HP special ?-----About 186 lbs is listed in the brochure.

    Evinrude/ Johnson 20hp to 30/35 conversion HELP!!

    The electric primer has a red lever on it for manual operation.-----Or the manual primer shoots fuel in when operated.----All very easy if you understand how they work.-----The electric primer was used on electric start motors from 9.9 to 300 HP.----A wonderful item it is.

    The motor has water in it.----When I see that rust on reed valves the motor has to come apart.-----Or it will take itself apart sooner or later.

    The electric primer valve is a far better set-up than a choke flapper.-----And an easy install if you understand how it works.

    Are you testing for spark with the plugs laying on the block ?----Not a good test.-----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more on a test device ?---A good magneto will jump 1/4" easily with spark going ---Snap , snap that you can hear.------Carburetors should be empty when you hook up the...

    The one in the glass bowl is a very good filter.-----Perhaps remove it ( for testing ) and see if you can get fuel into the carburetor.-----There is a screen under the cover on the fuel pump too.

    What kind of boat ?------Any chance there is water logged foam in the hull?

    Your Worst Nightmare.-

    Worst nightmare is working on ---" saltwater "----motors.-------There are procedures to remove bolts periodically and coat them with a sealant.

    Johnson tn26 Recoil

    Getting spark might be as simple as cleaning the breaker points.-----Hard to see the condition of them here.-----Or it might involve replacing cracked coils. ----Can not see them either.

    Lower unit

    Drain gear oil.------Repair with the " playdonium " and pressure test your work.-----Water leaking into the gearcase tends to get expensive.
