    A few shops I know (all freshwater motors ) do not do any rebuilding anymore.-----Labor charges add up too quick.----Electronic parts / sensors must be checked as well.-----All takes too much time.-----Customers do not want to wait.

    The blue wheel is used so that 1 person can move it from a truck and into the water.------It flips up once boat is floating.----Not sure why the OP is reluctant to raise the motor a bit at a time ??-----It was suggested long ago ( a month or more ) and it might not take much.-----Might change...

    I do not have them for sale.-------I just encourage folks to do some shopping / investigating.----Parts are not that hard to find if you look / shop in the right place !!

    The only way is to test.---Make some 1/4" shims.----Raise motor 1/4" with first shim and test.----Repeat as needed.

    Simple feed back here with few words.----If motor is idling too fast you adjust the idle stop.------Idle pickup is where throttle plates opens.----If motor bogs on acceleration the richen the low speed mixture.

    Not just " copper wire "-----It is called ----" magnet wire " -----That would be wire with a clear varnish type coating.-----So a simple check with an ohmmeter does not always indicate the true condition of the windings !!

    There is a stator.-----There is a rectifier.-----There are wires.-----Wires on that era Mercury is known to be defective,-----Rotten to the core so to speak..-----Inspection on your motor required.----Rectifiers are cheap.

    You should be reading about 120 PSI.----Do not spend a single beer token until you have checked condition of pistons and rings !!
