    Need a model # of this motor.------Simply because the 89 and newer models do not even use a water tube ( brass ) to feed water to the power head.

    There is a method on that control to disconnect the shift function.----You pull the main handle sideways !

    If that is an OMC binnacle control it will work.----The electrical bits from a " powerpilot " will work.-------And in general any control box with the big red plug can be used on a motor with the big red plug.------

    For a short few years they ( who are they ) said you could run these motors at 100:1 mix.-----So these motors use much less fuel than an older motor at 24:1----So 1/2 the fuel with 1/4 of the amount of oil means that these motors ran very lean of oil !!!-----Have I said that oil and lubrication...

    Could be a 1976 model.-----Yes a tiller was offered back then.--From 1962 to 76 models would use the same tiller.------Might not be easy to find today.----Your location ?

    Was your compression tester calibrated ?-------Did it start and idle ok ?----What other trouble shooting was done ?----If I saw 80 PSI on my tester then the motor would be coming apart.-----Was it run hot ?----Was it run at 100:1 mix ratio ?

    It can be confusing when folks mention that they have an electric shift 800 model.-----The lower drive on electric shift models was never referred to as an 800 model.----Yes you can bolt the high profile on.----Won't look correct , or be efficient but it will bolt on.

    Points are very reliable.---If there is no spark then perhaps other parts in the system have failed.----Any testing done ?

    Owner needs to know whether he has the electric shift or the oil pressure assisted 800 model.----The electric shift does not have through the hub exhaust.-----The 800 does use that feature.

    Looks like a ground cable to me.----Do you have the 703 control box ?----Any pictures of the wiring on it.
