    Coils must be removed from magneto plate to properly install the plug wires.----Most wires need to be turned to screw onto the pin.

    Simple----You look for accessory kits 1972 models.----The 22 cubic inch blocks were the same year to year.----Starter kit ( starter & bracket ) $331.00 part # is given ,-----They say that it fits from 18 to 40 HP.----I always thought the 40 HP starter was different from 18 /25 HP models.

    Agreed----About the only thing that can go wrong is a ruptured diaphragm or dirt in check valves.----Easy fix in my opinion.

    I warm up condensers and test them with a -----MERC-O-TRONIC -----Magneto analyzer.----They test OK when cold and often fail when warmed up.

    Those 18 HP and the 25 HP were produced to 1976.----Sweet running motors.----I would never get rid of a good one in favour of a modern " built with plastic " offshore motor.

    A 15 " transom is for short shaft motors.---Your 1960 Fastwin would have a 5" spacer if it was a long shaft.-----A 16" transom is also considered short by many builders.-----Order a shortshaft ( 15" ) motor from Tohatsu

    Have to start somewhere and this is what I would do---Check for water in fuel tank.-----Check gear oil.-----Use timing light to see if you can pinpoint ignition issues on one of the leads.
