Saftey cut-off lanyard now required by Federal law?

There is another thread about this but in short: The Reg has been on the books for many years, its nothing new. Boats which were not produced with one do not have to install one, but it is a good idea. All boats under 26 feet and around mid 70's (don't quote me) will have one

    Joist hanger help please

My pic was used to show 2 U-brackets bolted together, and 90* opposite to placement. I showed spacing to components could be identified. Your swing hinges could be thru bolted into the 4x4

    Joist hanger help please

May not fully understand the reason to use a 4x4 and not just use steel bracket thru bolted to the 2x10, and then use a eye bolt under the bracket. This is a thought and use bolt between two brackets

2000 Volvo Penta 5.7 Gsi PEFS Fuel line fitings

My point is there is a fitting which screws into the TB. Both Merc and VP have a fitting which screws into the TB and that fitting is what matches up to the flex line. TB https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31886/4856/130 Look here for part numbers to search for which are VP...

USCG requires fittings to be metal, does not matter what type so long as it seals Merc has same TB and uses similar type lines. Maybe check with local GM dealer

Your motor has two senders, one goes to the gauge which gives you a visual of temp and provides no info to the ECM. The ECM sensor tells it if its overheating, and it will shut the motor down and throw codes.

Being able to do that tells me its not overheating. The gauge is reading over 180* and your able to keep your hand on the thermostat, its the gauge or sensor

    Engine struggles to turn over

Before replacing the fuel pump or anything, need to find out of that is the problem. Might have a restriction and the pump is unable to pull the fuel. Things like the antisiphon valve, clogged fuel filter Should be able to keep it running by slightly dribble gas down the carb until the fuel...

What´s the best replacement for AQ271C (or 570) 5.7 GM engine, ideally stroker?

Unable to say for sure, but we here the same thing from rebuild shops on this side about buying foreign. The local shops want to do the work. The cigar and rugs is a new one and a bit extreme Now if you heard it from someone which bought and installed there self, it could have some legitimacy.

Agree with Bruce You want the clear hose on the input hose from the pump. Can you hold your hand on the thermostat housing?
