    Your sig shows a 1984 and first post list a 5.7 and just for clarity if its a 84 model it should be a 898 which is a 350 also 5.7L. Being a 84 there should be no White/Green wire because you should have points and not a TB 4 or 5 ignition. Is this correct?

    Your shift interrupter switch is either not working, not adjusted correctly or wires are not connection properly. The interrupter is only used when the boat is in the water and is not needed when out of the water. Check to see if the switch and that it is set correctly

    Rotate the motor until you see the main cross mark on the damper or a plate above the damper as in pic. Then look real close it, and maybe take some sand paper to it (might have been painted over). Point gap .016 to .019 and dwell 26 - 31 degrees

    My first thought is the slave relay. Should get 12V when key turns to start on the lower small yellow/red wire. If you jump across the top 2 terminals, this will engage the starter
