    An elegantly simple way is to take the discharge from the pump and feed that to a ---T---that you install on the oil pump intake.----It will circulate the oil.-----You won't lose any parts.----Be simple to put it back in service should you decide to sell.

    If you do not know the age or condition of the impeller you need to install a new one.----A golden rule of buying / getting an old outboard motor.----The impeller could be cracked / brittle and fail without notice.----It is that simple !

    A fair price.----Your location ?----Many parts are available.----Will need points in magneto cleaned and set at 0.010" , carburetors cleaned.---New impeller and gear oil.-----You have to learn to work on it yourself , few shops will help you.

    It seems that folks do not want to listen to sound advice.-----Install a new impeller now !!-----The motor does NOT have a warning system or a shutdown system should it overheat.-----It would run until it goes ----BBHHOOOM----You would then be shopping for another motor.

    Visit-------leroysramblings-----Learn all about this fine just 60 lbs motor.----Many folks hate that design but I think they run very nicely.----Install a new water pump impeller.----Check thermostat as the are usually stuck open.

    The cylinder head will be warped.( they all are ) so resurface it on a piece of glass with emery paper.--Install new thermostat.----Give the motor a try.----Hopefully it will run nicely.

    There is only a low speed mixture adjustment.----Check the thermostat.----They often stick open.----And replace that impeller !

    The high speed jet ( orifice plug ) is in the bottom of the float bowl.----There are 4 of them in total on your motor----They are about 5/8" long.----They must be clean.---Also post compression numbers .---These motors have a history of broken piston rings.

    Takes just minutes to change the grommet as stated clearly.----You do not have to remove the power head to change the grommet !!---I believe the upper and lower grommets are the same.----I believe the exhaust housing has 2 wee holes where the grommet is held.----Use those 2 holes to push it out.

    Some of those use a thermal overload device and contacts might need cleaning.---Or if moisture got in the motor the upper bushing on armature might be stuck.----Nothing to lose, so take top cover of the motor.
