    ????----Really-----You can not improve on that copper pipe.------Would you choose something from plastic ?---It is easy to replace as it just pulls out of the upper grommet.-----And the upper grommet is easy to replace as well.-----Brilliant stuff in my opinion.

    Very simple.----These motors came with a set of brackets.----The brackets bolted to the transom.----The motor dropped in to those brackets.----Then 2 lock pins held the motor down.----Walk on over I have those brackets.----Your location ?

    Yes they will feel soft as you crush the seal----Plug torque is typically 15 FT-LBS

    They are not worth much to the general public.------Shops often refuse to work on them.------Folks who know how to work on them often get them for less that $50 , and have 2 or 3 of them.

    If you can not leave a mark with gentle push of a finger nail then you can start sanding.

    You could try sanding too early.----I doubt you could wait too long.-----What do the instructions say about curing / hardening time at various temperatures ???

    Ignition switch may be faulty or wire is not connected properly.----Wire might be cut somewhere.-----The primer may not sound a loud click , depends on your hearing.

    When you push the key in the primer valve should CLICK.-------And the key is to be pushed in and held in while cranking the motor over.-----The primer is a valve and it is not a pump.

    Find a shop with a marine dynamometer.-----Have the motor output tested.-----Something is not right if you have to go to 15" pitch with that set-up !!!

    Get rid of that copper tube thingy.------Repair / fix the voids in the glass ( Monday morning type work ) from factory.------Find a new drain plug fitting.----The kind with say 3 bolts going through transom and a pipe plug.----On my project I am getting rid of that and custom plate with pipe...

    When the motor was rebuilt was the bearing properly lined up with the dowel ?-----The 95 model 40 certainly came with VRO.----The 48 models did not !---The upper bearing o-ring would have no bearing on this looseness.

    If your motor is not in good condition then going to 15" might get the revs back up.----Not the correct approach.-----Post the compression numbers.---Is the boat in good condition and not water logged ?
