    welcome aboard. the cheapest way is to sell what you have, buy what you want you boat a tiller PVC SIB which is only listed as a "raft" by the manufacturer. you have to spend a lot more money to get into a console SIB with remote steering/controls.

    if its grinding, something is wrong. could be PDS shaft, most likely its u-joints and upper gear box pull it before you end up spending many many thousands in repair.
