    Motor must be raised to give clearance for that part to rotate with your fingers.-----So have you raised the motor , yes or no ?

    The 1986 models appear to use a cable from the tiller handle.------That might need to be disconnected for the remote cable to hook up.-----All easy here.-----I am sure your local repair shop can help figure this out.----Not confusing at all.

    A long thin paint brush.-----The kind an artist would use for body painting.---Little container of touch up paint.----Eyesore / problem is gone.----Or hurry to a boat shop and pay up.----I am assuming this might be your first boat and motor ?

    Rust happens.----Just use a scraper to get rid of it.----Then a little paint.----Done.

    Find out what is wrong..----There is a reason for loosing the bottom plug / cylinder.----Do some trouble shooting !

    Revving a motor in neutral can be an expensive trick.----Inspect fuel pump.-----Test run with another tank and hose.------Perhaps bottom crankshaft seal is bad..----My bet is that there are internal corrosion issues.----Seized motor that sat with water on bearings needs to come apart.

    Oh so typical of the damage.----Just need a new bearing plate.----That shaft will last another 36 years I think.

    Often you have to go up first to get clearance for that to go out of the way.-----Or maybe the trim limit switch is the issue.-----Seems strange that it would lock up in storage.

    Install a new impeller.-----Change gear oil.-----Then see if oil injection is hooked up or bypassed.------Run at 50:1 and verify oil injection is working before running straight fuel.
