    I think it happened last proper trip out, I noticed it started running rough at idle and then wouldn’t start once back at marina. Oil levels and consistency look fine. I’m fairly intuitive and felt it wasn’t 100% and sure enough, wouldn’t start once shut down. Hoping for a good result of course...

    Plugs were wet and black when first issue arose hence I started changing plugs etc etc and then a new distributor cap got it going but It didn’t feel right after a 5 min run so I pulled the head

    I’m led to believe the crab distributor has a common fault Of misfire between 3 and 5 which is where it blew, my distributor cap was found to be faulty too. I only experienced issues for one outing so hopefully no major damage.

    I’ll try to get some photos but that photo of the gasket is after about a week with salt water on it and I had also pulled the “stainless” ring away myself to see how it was put together.     never overheated Lou, always within range, think it weas when the distributor cap failed and misfire occured, thanks though.

    dammed if I can get the head off, have all head bolts out, that wasnt easy with the motor in place, took bolts out of alternator bracket, still wont budge, is there a bolt behind the head somewhere I am missing ? very hard to see behind there. thanks for your continued support !!

    would it run in neutral, smooth as, to 4000 rpm with a massive hole ? only under load it makes a bit of noise

    thanks for reply, valves didnt appear stuck once rocker off, I'm trying to get the head off now, took a while to get the intake off as I'm doing it in the boat, with about 8 in of clearance above flame arrestor, makes a challenge :) usually run at 3200 for about an hour to fishing spot, so not...

    thanks, with each cylinder at TDC, correct ? ie rotate motor 90 degrees to adjust each rocker
