Yamaha, 4-stroke Mid Range Power loss

I have a friends 02' Yamaha 25hp 4-stroke Jet Drive, that suffers from mid-throttle power loss. I had rebuilt the carbs which were fairly dirty. I was very meticulous in the cleaning and blew out all the passages. The gaskets were in great shape and not flattened and re-used them. He said a...

Mariner / Yamaha,..are they the same?

Given that mine is Yamaha, I guess the next bit of info needed is what years will fit this application. Since I've only been searching the two popular market place sites, I haven't found any around these early years, but knowing that Yamaha, or even Mercury units could fit helps. What years'...

Mariner / Yamaha,..are they the same?

I have around the 1986 year Mariner 15hp (684C S 838421) and I'm in need of a short shaft lower unit. It is frozen up and suspected had water sitting in it for quite some time. I didn't get the chance to tear into it, but the drive shaft and the prop shaft won't turn and feels solid, almost...

Force -need finding year of motor

Interesting.. pretty 'chincy' motors! Is there a cross reference number for the waterpump impeller? I have one blade split. Tried to find it, but real tough. I don't need the housing surprisingly.

Force -need finding year of motor

That was about it. Tearing it apart and the last 'worry' I have is trying to get the waterpump bolts off. Got em' soaking and going to try heat. Fingers crossed.

Force -need finding year of motor

Awesome, I appreciate the info.. Weird little motors but couldn't find it for the life of me. By chance, is Force a division of Mercury or Chrysler? I hear mixed ideas on it.

Force -need finding year of motor

I have a small Force outboard and I think it is an old one. I need to know the year so I can purchase parts for it. The model is: 152F90D. The serial is: 1136. The cowling is broken up in pieces (looking for a used one) and I can't determine the hp. Also, when I searched various sites...

Thru Hull Hydraulic Strain Relief ??

I am in the middle of a restoration of a 73' Mako and I have fabricated a full transom with an engine bracket for a 225 outboard. I am planning on running hydraulic lines through my transom along side a 2.5" blk hose for all the cables, but I am stuck on how to complete the pass through on the...

73' 22' Mako Restoration- Building in-floor fish box

To give you some information on where I am, I am putting in a full transom in that was soaked and had to replace it. I used AB-plywood, epoxy w/cabosil in-between layers with heavy roving for the transom (but not at that install yet). I cut out the back splash 'unit', but decided to re-purpose...

    Correct Binnacle for Yamaha?

So, I just purchased an 05' Yamaha 225 hp, 4-stroke and it's going on a 73' Mako (I'm currently restoring it, with full sized transom, with engine bracket-extension plate) and I'm not sure what kind of controls I would need. I know I'd need a single, but I've seen 704...? Is that the correct...

    Recommended Outboard length?

Not sure if this is in the right forum..... Just purchased a 1972 22' Mako CC. My particular model has the transom that drops down to accommodate the engine(s). I took off: 2- 79' Evinrude 85hp's from the boat and am looking to re-power it. My transom measures 20" from top to the bottom. I'd...

    So..What's your bottom Line?

I came across 2014 200 hp Yamaha 4-Stroke that went under. I am looking for a 200 for my Mako I'm about to buy and was wondering if it's worth a consideration? I'm confident in my rebuilding skills and have restored many large hp motors. Is it worth offering $1500 and seek after used harnesses...

    Tilt Assist adjustment?

2000 Mercury 40hp, 4-Stroke Bigfoot has a tilt assist... The tilt option is not that helpful in tilting and takes considerable effort to tilt it up. I looked at the manual, but I didn't see where I could service it (increase the pressure/how to adjust that). Can anyone offer incite on this...

    Resource for Prop

I have rebuilt a 2000 Mercury, 40hp 4-Stroke Bigfoot and have need for a 15-pitch prop for it. It is mounted on an Alumacraft duck boat and have used an 11p (screamed and went nowhere) and had an old 21p that fit and can't get the rpm's up. I went into my local Eastern Marine store and Their...

    2000 Merc 40hp 4-stroke- - Weak Spark?

I am experiencing a weak spark, not the nice blue hot spark that I am usually used to in most motors. Also, mid-range throttle Boggs down, then when encouraged the throttle it will rev higher. Could this be due to the weak spark or carb issue?
