    Cabinet hanging question.

Are you talking about the pic in post 16? The cabinet was only resting on the stand in that one. I had to take the drywall and top door hinge out because I measured where it was going, but not the path it would take to get there. It was too wide, and even after taking the drywall down, I still...

Cut the angle into the board, it's easy. Leave the stringers a bit tall, it's easier to trim down than to need to add.

Anyone want to guess the mistake I made which made that one so hard to get in?

    Cabinet hanging question.

I marked the studs on the floor, but I should have done that before I covered all the drywall screws. It would've been easier. My place isn't built like that. It's a very old trailer home with 2x2 studs, a single stud header, and rafters sitting on top of the studs. It even still has the rafter...

Why use both at all? Just use the poly. If yours has wax, it will cure hard on it's own.

The stitched 1708 glass will be much stiffer, and need some time to soak up the resin, meaning you will need to add a generous amount of thickened resin at the base of the stringers to fill in the corners or else it will probably lift. I haven't used epoxy resin, but it needs to be more precise...

That must be why I'm always complaining about Lowes plywood.

Any construction store like that should sell untreated. Same as the varnish. Treated is meant to be liquid repellent/resistant, counter productive to absorbing resin. Like where? Every bit of structural wood should have glass over it. 👍

    Towing friends boat damage

If you intend to go through insurance, you will be the one considered at fault. You were towing, making sure everything was secure was your responsibility. Your insurance, the accident will be on your record, and any points will be on your license.

I'm guessing you mean a plywood sheet acting as a floor for the tank. I would replace it. It lets water run under the gas tank. No, just don't use treated. Don't, the resin from glassing it in will act as your water barrier. Varnish is meant to repel liquid right? Well the resin is a liquid...

Buddy, this boat's wood is done. Either commit to a full tear down or cut your losses. It sucks, I feel for you, but the more you dig the more it's gonna stress you out and make you mad. Get yourself a little aluminum jon boat with a few bench seats. Room for a few poles and a cooler, just a...

This is all typical of wood core fiberglass boats. If you did the RH (starboard) side, you would need to do the LH (port) side too. It might sound like double the work for nothing, but you would need to cut the floor out from the hull side to the opposite stringer. Then you have half new wood...

    Cabinet hanging question.

A bit late for that, about half of the cabinets are up. 3 inch spax cabinet screws should leave 1/8in of stud. 2x2 studs, 5/8 drywall, and 1/2 sheets on the cabinets.

    Boats from work.

I've been forgetting about this. Nothing special really. Just glassing and bodywork.

Cut out the bad portion of stringer, cut a really shallow angle into the remaining, bed the new section in with thickened resin, 2 layers of csm and one of biaxial roving 12 inches on each side and a minimum of 6 inches down the hull. Then scuff the mount side and add in the motor mounts. Smooth...

You CAN just replace the motor mounts and ignore the rest. We do a lot of stuff like that, not many people have infinite money to dump into an occasional weekend toy. You could still get a lot of use out of it. Just keep in mind the structure is weakened, so don't push it hard. No towing or...

The extra board could just be a spacer or a means of connecting all of the ply layers vertically. I wouldn't worry much about it. I agree that this really needs a full tear down and rebuild. If it's too much work for you, which would be perfectly understandable because it's a LOT, don't waste...
