Replace rear seal on transmission 7.4 L inboard mercury

Yeah, done a few of them over the years. As said, clearance is the key. If you can gain the clearance you will be happy. Others are a bear to get to. Even sliding the engine ahead works on occasion. Removing the prop shaft don’t always work without dropping the rudder. Had a couple that you...

    Solar charging batteries

You will have to replace the cell in the bad one if need be. They work together.

    Found a tackle bag loaded.

Well we give them a chance to think about what they have done. A year in the back room doesn’t hurt. Besides, there are a lot of boaters around here that only are here for a week vacation for fishing and come from hundreds of miles away.

    Solar charging batteries

May have been warm due to charging causing more resistance? Cooling down let the animals out?

    Found a tackle bag loaded.

That is probably right. At our marina we put it in the lost and found bin, that only us can access. If someone inquires about stuff we let them describe it and we will get their item if we have it. After a year it will go to the employee or other person who found it originally.

Winterizing, use E-0 stabilized gas or install shut off valve and run carb out of fuel?

Problems arise simply from boats sitting around to much. Your car gets used pretty much daily, your boat takes a rest a lot. Park your car next to the garage and let it sit all winter and it will have issues in the spring. I’ve had to explain this to many boaters over the years.

3 rescued after boat fire near Cape Cod

Had a guy come in the marina several years ago, he was out with the family for a few days trip. He took water on overnight, the boat was getting full and water was over the floor in the fwd cabin. He activated the bilge pump, it had no automatic float. Got to pumped out and came on a saturday to...

    Stalling, sudden low idle.

I see no mention of a faulty tachometer. If the tachometer is going south it will also cause running issues. If it acts up again, disconnect it and see if it runs well.

    Car door panel

Stainless trim screws with those trim washers would look good also. I’ve done that when nothing else sticks. I figure it’s my car, when I’m done with it nobody will want it anyway, if they do I don’t care.

Rebuilt my mercarb, now runs awfully

Have you ever rebuilt any carbs in the past? The reason I ask is: It’s always awkward the first time“ as with many things in life…..

    One last try

Yup! We would do just that ^^ The only issue with them is if you lean forward to much it would go under, then shoot back up right at you! If you weren’t paying attention it could knock your teeth out!

    Tongue Jack Failing

Can you find a similar jack at a local place and remove the attachment stuff from it and drill, countersink the bolt pattern? If it was mine I’d try that. It may require some cutting and grinder work , then file/clean up the edges so it looks nice.

    Tongue Jack Failing

Third picture of the gear, is that a notch on the bottom gear? If so, Maby you can pump a bit of oil in there and let it run down to the bottom. I may be wrong but it’s worth a try.

Been using them for a few years now. A thief doesn’t care, they will find a way Reguardless but at least it’s something.

Loose Strap From Winch To Bow

Several years ago a guy came back from fishing and his electric winch was gone. People did see someone taking it but paid no mind as they thought the owner was servicing it for some reason. All they had was it was a guy in a red truck. Never got it back.

    Solar charging batteries

I was told early afternoon. It takes about an hour by the time we get set up, get it lifted and driven over to the liftwell. It’s parked about 250 feet from the well. We will see how the day goes! the guys will be doing other services on the boats in the morning I’m told.

    Water in bilge

You can do the old reverse trick and use your garden hose to fill your bilge completely with water. You may be able to spot leaks going out easier than coming in. NO! Never do that. You will probably soak the starter and it’ll end up junk. And you will overload your trailer.
