    Chestertwon, MD

Here a few shots of some tall ships that breezed through Chestertown, MD. Chestertown is a sleepy little town way up the Chester River on the Chesapeake Bay. The Sultana reproduction was built here and is home port to several tall ships. Enjoy

Here are just of few of the pics at the St. Michaels show. Pics are from last year. The cabin curiser is a Trumpy which was a very high end yacht made in Annapolis. This is the smallest one I had ever seen. A couple was restoring her and had done a beautiful job.

When is it not good to help

So my new neighbor shows up with a beater...12' FG boat that looks like it had been molded in the back yard after a few six packs and a little Evinrude 6 on the back. The motor has a big aluminum ring around the prop as it was previously used in rocky waters. Another neighbor volunteered me to...

    Halloween inspiration

Halloween is big holiday here what with a growing number of grandkids and all. I have tombstones all over the front yard I make from scrap. I have enough materials to make at least half a dozen to a dozen more. I'm running out of names to paint on them though. I have such things as Frank N...

So, my ex-sister-in-law calls me up and says, "are you interested in buying a boat?". I reply "always". She goes on to tell me that Uncle Fred has a boat in her garage and she would really like to be able to park her car there. So I go over and check it out. Of course it has all kindsa...

    Volvo IPS drive

I just saw one of these (actually two) for the first time. What a beast! Went over to visit a friend he was rebuilding a pair. One was already done. Cast bronze housing, the horizontal shaft is thicker than the axle in my pickup truck. Not an ounce of aluminum anywhere. He was pressing the...

    pis-ants

Darn pis-ants showed up all over the kitchen counter yesterday. This critters usually show up in spring not fall and I haven't had them in years. Plasma or LCD

Okay guys, my old rear projection TV is really showing it's age. I've been thinking about replacing it all year, been looking casually. Looking for objective opinions between Plasma and LCD. From what I can see, plasma has an edge in picture quality and price, but they don't seem very popular...

    Dinghy

I've been wanting a dinghy for a couple years but they seem to cost more than a runabout. I haven't figured that one out. Well, I had a friend give me a 14' aluminum jon boat that was set up like a bass boat. I stripped all the superstructure off, turned it upside down on sawhorses and got...

    Baltimore Pier 6

Went to Pier 6 in Baltimore last night. Pier 6 is a venue where concerts are performed. A band called Several Species played last night. They are a cover band for Pink Floyd. I was very impressed as I expected less. We docked right across from the pier as they won't let you dock at that...

    Motivation

Is it me or does the motivation just seem to fade away with the years? I got a ton of projects waiting in the wings and just don't feel like starting (or finishing) any of them. Gotta trim out a bedroom, finish swapping motors on the log splitter, replace the rotten rafters in the kitchen...
