    4.3 Cobra Prop

I have an '89 4.3 with a Cobra O/D in a '69 Searay SRV190. Prop is 21P. I was happy with this until I read another thread and it seems my boat is second slowest compared to everyone else's. She does 34 knots turning 4400rpm. What do you think a 23P will do to my top end? (AChris, will your...

    Infant PFD

Okay guys. I need an infant PFD quick, not 0-50 lbs child. We're talking brand new from the factory Grand Nephew baby boy - 1 month old. I found an Stearns 8-30# infant online, but I need it for this Saturday. West Marine had nothing (online), Wally World - same (this is usually where I get...

    Too many Chartplotters

I have an old Sitex unit with a Navionics card in it. I really like the Navionics charts mainly because of the soundings and port information. But, the screen is a little small, it's black and white, hard to see, it has on side with a couple LEDs for backlighting which is horrible, and has...

    Electric Boats

Okay, I had a stupid thought. I was watching a TV show which was about two drag motorcycles. One was electric. It did 157 mph at the finish line rivaling it's gasoline competition. Then I remembered way back when (probably during the 70's gas crisis) seeing solar powered car prototypes (in...

    Pollution

Another thread started going in the direction of motors polluting the water. Rather than hijacking the thread, I figured pollution and the water in general was a 'nuther topic. It's been my experience that boaters are very sensitive to the water and pollution. So here's you chance to express...

    River boat cruise

Anyone ever been on one of these. Somehow I got a maillng list for a cruise line that uses paddle boats. They go up and down most major rivers, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, etc. It looks enticing. I've only been on Royal Caribbean though. Can anyone out there give me a comparision? thanks

    Cheap Trailer

Well, I was putting the boats back in the drink today as Hanna has passed. First the Searay which has been in drydock for a couple weeks. Next was the McKee craft. I was backing up into the lot and bumped into the storm drain curb...not hard mind you, I was only creeping backwards. Well, the...

    What is this Part ????

I have 1978 Mercury 402 which I am attempting to restore. A couple more things to do and I will be ready to crank her over and proceed. But, there is a part I need to know what it is. On the port side of the powerhead is a small blueish plastic piece about the size of an ignition capacity. It...

    Funny titles

I frequent the more technical forums mostly although the Dockside Chat is a nice deviation. A lot of the people in the tech forums get sooo serious and tooo technical. Sometimes it's really hard to be with titles like: squeeze bulb does not stay hard Trumpet Horn Mounting Nut breaker Head bolt...

    Rail Installation Question

I have a 14' Mckee Craft which is similar in construction to a Boston Whaler...glass over a styrofoam core. The glass is relatively thin. The factory uses .090 aluminum underneath the glass where any fittings are mounted. I have 6 stanchions for either side to run the rail through. I'm afraid...

    Vendor Forums

I get the impression that the vendor forums are not visited much on iBoats. Maybe it's just this particular brand ?

    Pulls to the Right

I have a 14' McKee with a 35 Merc on the back. She pulls hard to the right at high speed. This is way beyond a skeg adjsutment. The motor is mounted at the proper height and centered. She is trimmed very well. Steering is free and easy. Suggestions? Front end alignment ? :)

    More Fun at the Ramp

Well, my neighbor and I were yanking our boats this evening due to Hannah impending. He was using his truck. Those short trailers are tough to backup up to begin with, and he was jackknifing all over the place. I was teasing him that I should have a picture and post it on iBoats as he...

    Rehub $

Dunno if I have a question or not. But... I picked an '78 Merc 402 for a c-note. It has a SS prop on it and I have a newer 35 HP which is the same motor. So I figured if it was garbage, I got a nice prop and many spare parts. Well, the aluminum part of the prop that slides over the steel...

Anyone know where I can find the lock nuts which go on either side of the steering tube that the cable goes through for a '87 Mercury 35 (and/or '78 40).

    Show Your Age

When I was growing up in the 60's before fiberglass boats were the norm, springtime meant brand new barnacle scrapers for me and my brothers. I don't recall dad ever buying bottom paint. Thanks dad.
