    I recently replaced a 1983 Johnson 115 hp that had the oil injection disabled. I bought a 1990 Mariner 115 and asked the mechanic about disabling the oil injection he explained that Mercury uses a gear driven injection pump vs OMC's bellow driven pump and is much more reliable.

    I do not use grease, that becomes a sticky mess. Periodic oiling serves me well. Easier because I pull the boat and it is sitting where I can work on it during the week.
