I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

When I pulled the LU drain plug this evening, the nose piece was tilted forward and a little more oil and water came out. So I let it drain awhile. I'm pretty sure it's empty now.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The yellow washers are for the lower unit. The small black o-rings are left over items. I couldn't find any reference to them in the service manual. Spare parts for another variation?

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Made progress today. Especially for me! Installed the casters onto the engine stand. I did the drilling and the boy did the installation. He did a good job too. Got the water pump kit installed and pressure tested. In fact, it's still under pressure now. Gonna let it sit...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

T-minus 30 days. And counting! Here?s the deal: We?re leaving for vacation at oh-dark-early on 8 Jul 17. I want this Kingfisher to be completed, shakedown cruise performed and be absolutely reliable and ready to go by that date. The goal is to have the boat DONE in 2 weeks...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yeah, that OTF works really well! And I had to get that big Merc off the engine stand so that I can install the new casters that just arrived. Gonna need the HF roller dollies for other things soon! :D Those dollies weren't exactly ideal strapped under the engine stand.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Got the transom mocked into place with the caps on top this afternoon. And moved the 50HP Mercury onto the stern, as a place holder for now. The AV plate lined up nicely! :joyous:

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Side one dried. And it still looks wet! Awesome. :applause: Transom flipped and the first coat of spar varnish applied to side 2. Will be after the boy's bedtime before it's dry, but I think I'll let him stay up later than normal tonight so that we can get the last coat done. ;)

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sanding got done and second coat of spar varnish applied. Note reflection of engine. :) Drying is taking a little longer than I'd hoped, putting me behind schedule a bit. Humidity is 98% today and it's been raining off and on. It's LOUD inside that steel garage when the rain pours and the...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Got the first coat of spar varnish on the transom about 1/2 hour ago. Will let it dry for at least 4 hours, till about noon, then lightly sand with 220 grit and add the second coat. Will let the second coat dry for 4 hours then flip the transom and put the first coat on the opposite side...

    Some good stuff happening

And this morning we mounted the finished shelves. Got the Bose 301's moved up there and rocked the shop a bit! Then later we started rearranging stuff from the rack shelves. Making room and organization happen. ;) Oh yeah, I also bought a new, very appropriate key lanyard!

    Some good stuff happening

I do have some garage updates. Last month I bought a WiFi repeater and hung it up in the garage so that I could have better internet access inside. At first it worked really well but lately it's been finicky. Still tweaking it and will try a couple ideas to improve performance further...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We flipped the transom over and soaked the other side, then wiped it down. Now it'll sit for 3 days. :joyous: Soaked and pooled. Wiped and drying.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Okay guys, I have a little time to bring you up to date while I'm waiting to go back outside. I'm in. All in! Not just the transom, but everything! :D Over the last few weeks, I've recalculated, re-planned and have been surreptitiously acquiring "stuff" to finish the Kingfisher! Motor, deck...

    2005 Starcraft Islander 191

Maybe the carrier had some hidden protection. :heh:

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Transom is glued and clamped! :D Needs more clamps! I sure hope that's enough weight! :biggrin-new:

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yeah, I'd figured out it's 90 degrees at the base and the bevel was on top. I just can't cut straight! "The boy" and I got the transom sides sanded this morning. That is, he sanded and I inspected. ;) When it came time to start gluing, it became obvious to me that I don't have...

little 14 ft starcraft wont go faster than 6 mph!. (not engine spacific)

If your engine is running right and is correctly propped, it should put that little 14 footer on plane, no problemo. I used to have an aluminum 14' Sea Nymph similar to your boat that had a 25HP Mercury on it and with 3 men on board it performed very well, hitting 25-30MPH without effort. Even...
