    photographs......film vs digital.

As an amateur photographer who really enjoyed film and the prints from it I can say that from an overall resolution perspective it is difficult to beat the high-end digital cameras available now. Even the old "large format" film cameras from my time in the hobby have been surpassed...

    How do you trim?

To each his own I suppose, but the MECHANICS of it demand full tuck in/trim down, hole-shot then gradually trim up and throttle back...generally speaking. Some hulls may react differently obviously.

    Mercruiser Neutral Safety Switch?

What has taken place since it DID crank and start okay? Has there been ANY work done to it? If so, THAT is the first place to start looking. What year and model of engine? What type of control handle for drive/throttle? Have you check power to the ignition switch?

Engine issue— Mercruiser 5.0L, 305, 2 barrel mercarb

How many hours on the engine? How long since (if ever) the carburetor has been serviced?

    Challenging loading

The boat/trailer are fine...adjust your technique. What worked with the old boat DOESN'T with this one...plain and simple.

    Raw water pump

definitely NOT normal. Was it ever? Is the boat new to you? There are a number of ways to install it WRONG and have it wobble, but only ONE way to install it and have it run true. Look back through some posts and threads on this subject.

Major Boating Accident On Lake Tahoe

I've seen other lakes do the same, notably Table Rock Lake in Missouri...those fast, hard-hitting summer storms can make HUGE waves...remember the accident with the DUCK a few years ago that killed all those people? The lake was calm/normal one minute and then crazy the next. Only advantage...

    Recommended wood for trailer bunks?

Never used galvanized fasteners with treated wood. Only use stainless steel fasteners and stainless or Inconel staples. Cypress is best, along with many other "tropical" woods that are nearly impossible to find. YELLOW pine, NOT white, is next best.

    Replacing bow seat foam

Invest in a cheap hot-wire knife, I think Harbor Freight has them...makes cutting foam a breeze, otherwise it sucks the big one...

    '89 Arriva 2050 Restoration

I love restoration threads like this! I had a 1990 Bayliner 2050 Capri, very similar boat to yours but the Arriva brand was much more refined and 'upscale'. Mine had a 5.0 also, came with a 2 bbl carb but I switched that out to a 4 bbl Edelbrock Performer carb and manifold...that really lit...

Muriatic acid on stripped outdrive. Is it safe?

That "white corrosion" is aluminum oxide and you MUST get every single bit of that off.

    Wakeboat bans

I do all my boating at Table Rock Lake in Missouri, and it is DEEP, but many areas are not "large", i.e. imagine more like river channels maybe a few hundred yards wide, for the most part. These "arms" of the lake are what is most prominent. There IS some "big water" up close to Branson and...

converted an early 4.3 from 2 to 4 barrel carb. getting issue at WOT

Good...that was the question, was it the "LX" carb. Make a high-speed run and then shut it down, don't idle. Let it cool some and pull a plug or two and read them...see if you are running lean or rich.

    Wakeboat bans

I know the Corps of Engineers is doing shoreline erosion studies at many inland lakes and have noted acceleration of erosion with the increased popularity of wake boats. I hate to see anything get banned as that is just a bad precedent, but yeah...far too many wake boat operators are, "I paid...

7.4 merc won't start after winter storage

Did you set the choke first? You can crank on a cold engine all day and not get it to start. Now, it should cough and sputter a bit. Always have to ask, because it is SO easy to do...do you have the kill-switch lanyard on? These things are simply a logic path: it worked fine at ___X___...
