    1986 90 hp Mercury inline 6

about 6 *- months ago I bought a 1977 Starcraft SuperSport aluminum with a blown evenrude 140 on it. I bought a 1986 Mercury 90 hp that I hung on the back of the boat and then life got in the way, so to speak. Now I am trying to get ready for the spring bite, and I have just hooked up the shift...

Motor swap and missing chrome marks the beginning

Thanks for your replies guys. SHSU maybe I can figure out some kind of design pieces to cover the cracks and rivet them in. I crawled up into the stern and had a good look at the transom while tightening up the screws in the spillwell and to my surprise, it is in really good condition! Saves me...

Motor swap and missing chrome marks the beginning

To clarify, I am asking about welding the cracks in the spillwell and if anyone has any chrome trim for the back of a 18' 1975 Starcraft SS. The lower problems I already got some advice on and will address it in the outboard section of the forum.

Motor swap and missing chrome marks the beginning

I have decided to repower and fish until winter when I will get serious about restoring this boat. I think that using it for a while will help me identify the problems that need to be addressed. The 1986 Mercury 90 hp inline 6 outboard has some shift problems but has a good top end. I have two...

trying to find the model for a 1975? 18' open bow

Howdy, yep, it was on the gunnel up where the controls are. I had looked down near the deck is, like my last SS but did not see the plate up on the gunnel. Tunnel vision I guess.

trying to find the model for a 1975? 18' open bow

Not sure. I can't seem to navigate this new site set up to find the specs!! I had thought that 115 was the max for this length model. Haven't located a plate for the specs in the boat as well . Hope you're right though. From other posts, I'm almost thinking that the knee braces will be cracked...

trying to find the model for a 1975? 18' open bow

I went and got the boat Saturday and it is a 1975 SS. The old 140 hp Evinrude has lost compression in the lower two cylinders. 140 hp is just too much for this 18' boat anyway. Hope he didn't destroy the knee braces by running it for the last 16 years. Thanks for your responses.

trying to find the model for a 1975? 18' open bow

Thanks for your responses. I won't get my hands on the boat until Friday so my ability to get information directly from the boat is nil for now. I looked up the 1975 models of Starcraft but did not see an 18' open bow anywhere so I thought I'd ask those with higher knowledge if they knew. Guess...

trying to find the model for a 1975? 18' open bow

I am about to buy a 1975? Starcraft Aluminum Friday. It is supposed to be 18,' and is an open bow. I can't seem to find a SS at 18' for that year. Was there another 18' open bow being made in 1975? Not positive that the year claimed by the PO is correct although they said that they have owned...

changing out a power trim transom bracket 1984 Merc 115 hp inline 6

I am going to just drill a hole in the PT mid to line up with the threaded hole in the jet like the original mid is but I still have reservations as there are other differences as well that I would have to modify to convert it. I dunno.

changing out a power trim transom bracket 1984 Merc 115 hp inline 6

I am going to just drill a hole in the PT mid to line up with the threaded hole in the jet like the original mid is so I guess the problem is solved without changing out the transom bracket assemblies

1984 Mercury inline 6 115 hp outboard - power head removal

Looks like I have been locked out of the search venue here so I will try to ask for the information I need. I need to replace the lower crank seals on my 1984 Merc " Tower of Power " 115 hp outboard . Can I pull the power head without removing the carburetors ? Would like to just remove the...

Mounting my Mercury outboard , off center

Hey everybody, I am trying to mount my old 1984 Mercury inline 6 with a jet on an old Kenner Fishnski barge boat that I bought. I made some 3/8 " plates to jack the motor up to accommodate the jet and when I started to measure for height I realized that the set back mount ( angle aluminum ) Is...
