    question about warning horn...

    i have a 1995 Nitro, with a 125 Merc, it has a commander 3000 panel mount control. when i turn the key to "on" it does not give a test beep from the warning horn. i disconnected the tan/blue wire from the horn and connected a jumper to a ground and the horn sounded fine. anyone know this system...

    my boat has a matching set of OMC gauges, for years i had a 1991 90hp Merc 2 stroke and everything worked fine. last week i upgraded to a 1999 125hp Merc 2 stroke and now the tach is not working right. sometimes not at all. does this newer motor require a different tach?

    2 wire powertrim unit/3 wire powertrim unit interchangeable?

    i have a 1999 125hp Merc with a bad 2 wire power trim unit. this outboard has the 2 wire relay system. i have a 3 wire trim unit here and was wondering if it can be rigged to work with this system or do i have to switch all the electronics to the 3 wire solenoid system?

    when do you need to get new rings installed?

    at what compression level are new rings suggested? i have a 1991 90hp that has 115# in all 3 cylinders. is it better to have them replaced before it gets too low?

    what year did mercury switch drive shafts and get rid of the pre load pin on the v-6? will a preload pinned drive shaft work in a 1988 225 efi? can the pin be removed?

    100 to 1 oil mixture? really???

    just picked up a 1985 6hp Johnson that won't idle, the plugs turn wet and black. on the side of the cowl there is a 100/1 oil mix decal???? really? is this recommended still? i thought 50 to 1 was the norm. could this be the reason the plugs turn black and won't idle?

    starting problem with 25HP Johnson

    just got a 1995 25hp johnson. won't start unless you spray starting fluid into carb, once you get it running and warm it up, i can shut it off and start it up right away. but if you leave it sit for a few minutes and cool down, it won't start again. also if you try to prime it, it seems to flood...

    Backfiring 1971 60hp Evinrude solved...thanks iboats!
