    Mercruiser motor swap

I agree with Scott, no one ever wished they had less power. And when a 305 and 350 are the same size and weight why wouldn't you. Obviously if you already have the 305 that could do it.... Probably going to have to build engine mounts unless they left them long enough for the V8. Some do, some...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Should go on dry, my original on my 3.0l was that way for 40 years with no issue. I do usually bed the oring in something just so it won't fall while mounting the Y pipe. This can be something like bellows adhesive or a dab of grease. Just need a little to hold it. I used bellows adhesive last...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

My transom was so water logged it didn't matter. I've heard of using static guard or water mist though.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

That's like the black and decker rotary buffer I have... thing is like 50 years old. Buffed every boat dad owned and I pulled the brushes out of it last year thinking they may be due and slapped them right back in because they weren't even half worn. Probably out last any replacements I got too...

    Mercruiser Pre Alpha transom assembly

Are you talking about the water tube? At some point that got superseded to a plastic part... I'd swap to that if you wet store as they did all eventually rot out. If it is the water tube some are 5/8 and some 3/4. The 5/8 parts (bushing, plate, etc.) are NLA if memory serves too.

Love cordless tools. Had to go to air for mine as I kept burning them out. Obviously you have a wee bit less grinding to do than I did though.

why is there oil in my bellows but pressure test holds 15psi overnight

I've seen cheap grease look like lube in the bellows too. Flung and burned down from the gimbal and u-joints. I agree with the movement and vacuum tests though. That usually will show a weak/worn seal. You losing lube in the reservoir?

Pushing Run-Flat tires to the limit

The old maintain flow of traffic. During rush hour I've been passed doing very illegal speeds. Like lose you license immediately speeds. And they're moving 30 or so faster than that. I've determined someone will always be wanting to go faster. I had lights and sirens on in that situation to...

Pushing Run-Flat tires to the limit

That's not just a Maryland thing. I'm pretty convinced directionals in general are just an option. That beings said, it's on the book to use them, it's just not enforced... in any state. Maryland and NJ are weird in that the same type of case was brought up and you don't actually have to use...

No dipstick on 1989 era 3.0L?

Yeah, try the diesel oil. I've always had issues with rotella and delvac shearing way out of grade in boats but I seem to be an exception to that.

Maybe use epoxy so you get a longer working time too?

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Scott seemed to have the worse of the issues than I did. But I'll tell you what I got. On the 330 we ran a bead of 5200 around the exhaust port to reseal the flange and did the old wipe to finish the bead like caulking. That was 15 years ago and it is still there. You can't scrape that crap off...

    Trailer tires.

What came on the GMC? Our 22 had the older LTX A/T2 and thought they were decent. (Would have replaced with defenders though) I replaced the defender LTX M/S on my 19 with the newer defender LTX M/S 2 and think I liked the old style better. These do have a bit of tread noise but performance...

    Trailer tires.

My girls corolla wears evenly as well to the point I also don't rotate them. I only really notice on my truck the outside edges on the fronts wear down a little quicker from turns where the rear stays straight. I could probably do without rotations but they more or less sync up with every...

    Trailer tires.

Yeah. On those michelins it was like a switch. Went down hill quick but were still very good. Just no longer great. I probably could've went another 10k on them as I replaced them with about 4/32 of tread left but I had a long trip coming up and wanted new rubber for it. I've had lesser brand...

    Trailer tires.

Michelin defenders. Expensive but seem to be one of the few I get my money's worth out of. Had a set of hankook tires on my 04 that went 110k too. Religious about rotation every 10k or so and keep the alignment tight.

    Trailer tires.

I've noticed on vehicles around the 5 year mark the driving characteristics are severely changed from new. That's about as long as I get out of tires on my daily though. Start getting the "squeal" even on mild turns on off ramps. Last set went 130k miles though so doing them every 4-5 years...
