That's good karma on the transom... Like the name idea too!

Happy weekend!

So I think I hate Gluvit... I used a brush, I wasn't sure how much to apply? so I put a 4-5 on the 10 scale thick coat on... It went on okay and seemed to seal things, but I just checked how it was setting up and I have runs, pools, and all sorts of fun slop where I wasn't expecting it to migrate. Hopefully I can sand it? I almost wish I hadn't applied it... I hope when I paint over it will fade in my memory.. Any Gluvit advocates please chime in...

Also the directions mention nothing on clean up or solvent to use for removal any tips?

On a good note I have the first coat of real paint on all the wood, and second coat of spar on my transom... I'll post pics soon..

Peace!

Yah my friend, Gluvit really has a specific purpose, sealing up rivets n' such. It's designed to kinda run around and find those low spots where water might otherwise slide it's way into your boat. It's not like a paint product really where you'd look for a nice finish.

The runs and drips and pools are almost always hidden sub deck so it's of no consequence.

Many guys have attempted to stroke it on the outside of their hull (against the mobs recommendation) and end up with a giant mess!

Yeah I love Gulvit because it keeps ones bilge dry. In fact I just used a can of it yesterday in my Chief although knowing what it was going to do, I baby sat it for a bit and was able guide it where it needed to be. Never have tried to sand the stuff, I've just put deck over it.

Bear, don't sweat the Gluvit... You can sand it if it pooled in any visible areas.

The only thing I might could add is to possibly mix it a little hot and apply in warmer temps.

There is another, similar product called "Coat it." Its a lot cheaper than Gluvit. I found it to be a little less runny. The one caveat though is it goes on black. You need to paint over Gluvit anyway (for UV reasons), so the dark color wasn't really an issue for me.

Hey Gang,

Looks like the Gluvit is all cured and should sand well as PMC was sayin...

I have all the wood finished, and the transom coated with 3 coats of spar urethane.

The decks and benches are sanded between every coat with 220 grit, cleaned, and wiped with wax grease remover before paint.
I've applied 2 coats both sides with spar urethane, 2 coats primer, and 3 top coats of machine grey rustoleum top only. The final top coat has hardener and anti-skid. I'm trying fine aluminum oxide powder and so far love it. Should give plenty of grip, and feels good on the feet....

Now onto sanding inside of hull, prime bare surface with self etch, additional primer coat, and 2-3 topcoats of machine grey rusto with
hardener...

Hey gang,

Just getting back on my feet from some sorta minor surgery...

Been sanding and sanding and sanding.... I'm about 85-90% finished with the hull interior, then onto a bath, and I can finally start with SE primer on bare aluminum. I did however managed to get my seat bases installed with all stainless hardware... I played around with seating options... I mounted the center bench seat slightly port for balance and visibility while underway. I have the option of mounting posts on any of the 3 seat mounts... Hopefully I'll be getting this project finished in the next month or two...

Some pics!

She's coming along alright. Last 'minor' surgery I had was a hernia repair that took months to recover from totally.

Re: 14' Sea Nymph Oh Yeah! Now 1971 LUND 14-S

Thanks gang!

It's nice to be doing something again...

Yep I had 3 inguinal hernia's repaired. It was rough for first two weeks, but Dr. is very confident in his repair and gave me no restrictions but my own after 2 weeks from procedure. He said I'll know I had surgery for 3-6 months but the more I move the better the outcome. He said 10 years ago I would've been in the hospital for a week and off work 4-6 weeks, but not these days...

Yeah the swelling and discoloration that started a few days afterward were the most frightening...

Yep ^^^

Depending on how the doc installed the mesh, you may notice the twinge of a suture/attachment point tugging just as you start to do too much. Been nearly 10yrs & it still reminds me when I do stupid stuff

If I'd loose 20-25lbs, it wouldn't remind me nearly as often.

Just short of getting stuck w/ a needle/bee sting. Nice little
Hey stupid, remember how you got me? Yep, doing exactly this, ya big dope. Put down the heavy stuff and pick up/carry stuff correctly. Ya Dumbarse! Else you'll be getting a 3rd repair!! :mad-new:
reminder.

Total of 5 repairs done in 2 surgeries, 6yrs apart.
