I have an issue with my fuel tank. 1st off it (did) work i had a leak from the o-rings in the fitting so i decided to just go ahead and rebuild the whole thing. i did the o-rings in the fitting the gasket and diaphragm in the the tank cleaned everything up real good. To my surprise the inside of the tank has 0 rust in it. I put it all back together and now it is not priming at all when i push the primer button i mean nothing i am getting no fuel whatsoever going into the line. I took it all apart again yesterday to look to see what it could be....nothing as far as i can tell. I looked at all i could...the lines are clean i can blow air right through the fitting is clear the check valve in the tank is working and not stuck. I even tried to hook it up to the motor and fire it up to get pressure in the tank to see if maybe it would get some fuel under pressure.....nothing the motor shut down after it used up the fuel in the carb. I checked the tank to see if it built up pressure and it did but no fuel the line was dry as a bone. It has to be something i overlooked or missed or did wrong putting it back together. the primer did used to work just fine it make the clonking noise when i pushed it now no noise when i push the button and no fuel. Im getting kinda bent out of shape about this tank thing i was planing on going fluke fishing with my son today being thats its fathers day but its not looking good so far. I hope someone has an idea on what could be the issue here and i want to thank everyone in advance who has some input. I really would like the keep the motor stock but im kinda leaning towards the fuel pump conversion at this point.

Does your tank have a metal primer button, or black plastic?

Two questions come to mind:

1: Is the little outlet check valve in place? Just a little disc that sits in a recess. Easy to lose

2. Are you sure you got the hose installed air to air and fuel to fuel?

Lines are correct I just triple checked them. As for the check valve I am not quite sure what one you are referring to. When I took the tank apart I did it on my work bench and took it all apart carefully because of the 2 springs in it there appears to be a check valve of some sort that sits against the one spring. Like a rubber plug with an aluminum washer. That is in place. Not sure if that's what you are talking about. I can't seem to find a clear part diagram online the pictures are fuzzy and can't make out much of it

Update I did finally find a decent picture of the tank parts I think the one you are talking about is the disk valve it's part 29 on the picture I found. If that's the problem I honestly didn't see that part when I took everything apart. Like I said earlier I did it on my bench and was careful but now that I think of it I did bring all the stuff to my local marine dealer he has a lot of parts that I have needed. It probably got lost in transit (sigh) so now what can I do?

i convert all my pressure tank vintage motors to fuel pump, more for the fun of doing it than any issue running a pressure tank. you can do a few easy mods to the tank you have, and keep the vintage look, and run a fuel pump. no such things as problems....only solutions!! pick yer problem, and choose the solution. jmo

That disc valve is the one I was talking about. Part number 301802. An Evinrude dealer can get you one. I probably have one in my stash if I search hard enough. Like I said, easy to lose.
