Hi Guys,
I just bought a '64 Jupiter and am in the process of putting in a floor. I have read threw a few restoration threads but am a little confused on how to lay the floor out.
Do you run the plywood lenght wise and have one seem down the middle and piece in the area under the bow and bilge ? or do you run the plywood sideways and have three seperate seams ?.
Also, the ribs on the bottom have a couple of holes in them near the outside, what is the beat way to secure the floor down along the outside edge in these cases ? I am afraid if I just drill more holes they might break out into the old ones and not hold. Also, when screwing the new plywood down do you have to use rivits ? or can you use sheet metal screws ? I figure I will use 3/4in exterior plywood as it looks to be what was recommended in other threads.
This is not going to be a total restoration, all I plan on doing is putting a floor in it, paint it green and use it for fishing and duck hunting. Also, how important is it to replace the styrofome under the floor ? would the boat sit in the water lower without it ?
Thanks,
