1968 johnson 9.5 won't start

Ok took it out today and clocked it with the GPS topped out at 10mph. I'd guess total weight on board including the wood floor and deck, battery, gas tank, other gear, and me probably 5-600 lbs. it's a flat bottom 14 foot jon boat. Does this sound about right? Thanks guys

Bump for answer... should a 9.5hp motor top out at 10mph with a semi-heavy boat??

My buddy had a 14ft flat Jon boat with full decking , battery, gear , ect. With both of us 185lb and 165 we would top out about 14 mph with a 9.5 hp
