you already said remote steering is easier to find so it would be better than having to spend months looking for a tiller:D Remote all the way!

Re: 1973 14' SmokerCraft Zephyr Rebuild

Bah, I can go either way. At the end of the day I think the right engine, at the right price, at the right time, at the right driving distance will make for the right set up. It's all good:)

I do have a few on my radar at the moment;)

They go quick though, a lot of guys are looking for the exact same thing I am looking for around here.

Yeah, I've been checking the MI c-list for shats and grins, There is a higher percentage of tiller motors in WI and MN,..

Although, I have seen a whole bunch of bigger project boats in the MI c-lists,...Man yous guys have a lot of big ol' aluminum tubs in MI,....

And on a completely different side note I might call on a motor-less 19 foot fiberglass tub with a steering wheel,.......

Score!

Yup, I got one! This boat will in fact be a tiller...

I now have a 1983 Johnson 25 HP Tiller sitting in my garage:)

I feel like the outboard was a nice score but more important I think I found a great local mechanic. If you are reading this Randy, thanks!

I'll post up on the new engine when I get some photos together...

Congrats on the score.... Excited for you...not nearly as excited as teamster, but excited nonetheless...

Tiller is prolly best option for this boat... Fix her up and get her splashed!

Hi Jason:

Great find!

I think there's a type of resin made specially to adhere to aluminum. If you can find it you can cover the entire hull with fiberglass for the best of both worlds, eh? Like you said "...it's so easy to work on a small boat...." so it should be a snap; then you could gelcoat the finish color! What do you think Jason, let me know,eh?

Very Nice Jas, Not a SC but a clean Tinny. She ought to haul with that 25 on her.

You could make her shinny with just a little glitter paint.

You should be able to keep that one until your ready to pass it on to one of your kids.

Indifferent on the color choice!

I'm a big fan of outboards...How about a 300HP tiller?

Nice score on the Tiller Power!...But I kinda like "baja's" idea...that 300 would get on plane pretty quick...

As you can see the bracket was busted off and an Evinrude replacement was installed. She's not pretty at the moment but I do believe that I can make it look the straight up fishing boat part with some new paint and decals. It runs very strong (tank tested, not barrel) and I think it'll move this SmokerCraft very well.
