I love that ad. I'd frame that and have it in my kitchen! Nice work on the boat too :)

All gas lines are off, feed, fill, vent, and they were 38 years rotten. I have to follow a series of events. Gas lines, drop top (while feeding the gas lines on) rivets, bolts along the sides, then start with the drive. Right now the boat is out of shape. Having a hard time getting the gaskets I need online. I ordered the gasket and got a pack of O-rings. I was on live chat twice with Iboats and got disconnected. I sent an e-mail asking for the right gaskets with serial numbers but no reply after days. Will have to call them monday or find locally . So far in the boat I have found things lost for years. Fishing lures, muffs, and a few half eaten walnuts.

Update: Iboats said I should find my gasket locally at a Mercruiser dealer.

That's a pix going in the right direction! Congrats, kind of kick starts put back!

If you don't think you need to remove it again, I'd drop the tension holding the gap open to let you drop the transom back in. No reason to keep them tensioned longer then need be...

One of these is Not a rotted piece of white birch. It is my rotted gas tank fill tube. Once I get these hose's replaced I will drop the top. Easy to get at now.

None of the local marine shops had 1 1/2 inch gas tank fill tube. Finally found some at West Marine on South River Rd. in Mt. Clemens, MI.

Huh, I'd think any Merc dealer would be happy to special order you transom seal materials ($$$).

NuWave marine has your best deal on fill/vent hose. West Marine, yikes!

I just ordered the transom gasket online from Wholesale Marine. At a good price and I can get it over night.

All new gas lines are on. Fill, feed, and vent. Lowered the top , everything is going into place.

Glued the horse collar. With 2 coats of spar I'll be at 2 inches.

To get a 90 degree with my drill I am going to drill through a board using the drill press. Then use that board as a guide to drill the transom holes.

Now you've done it, you'll have to ask a MOD to change your user name

Congrats, looks like it buttoned back up just like before, but w/out the mulch transom.........

The transom assembly went in ok. Using a piece of hardwood for a guide when drilling paid off. Other than having to trim the keyhole a little everything went right in.
It's hard to believe how many things were taken apart to complete this job. Mostly time consuming things.

. The name will stay the same but the lettering will have to be replaced. Sander got away from me.:)

My bumper strips on each side of the boat have shrunk by 2 inches. I think I remember reading a post that mentioned that happening. Not sure what to do about that. Stretch it?

Most of a good warm sunny day sitting outside & you might get the 2" of stretch. Someone on hand to pull it & keep it stretched & let you run the screw thru the end. May be better to make a new thru hole....
