I would not change the pitch or diameter on that prop. Once you are fully established and some tach readings are available you might be wasting money and cause damage to the motor.

There are many discussions in the prop forum........ now another alternative which could be allot easier on the wallet is to have that prop re-hubbed/rebuilt. The cost for a re-hub/rebuild is usually less then $100 No one here wants to see anyone throw away money ;) You might also check ebay.

no my concern is finding a prop for this now lol. Its easy to find a 14x17 tooth drive but not a pin drive. just wondering if i could change it out to get a prop faster and easier.

the aluminum pin on props tended to go in even number pitches, so a 16 or 18 would be your options.
OMC Boat Propellers, Outboard Marine - propco marine boat propellers
a 16 will bring your engine rpm up approx 200, and the 18 will drop rpm's 200 or so.
You want your WOT rpm at around 4300 +/- 200

Yeah I have been looking at ebay and also looking at getting it re-hubbed.
