Here's what happened. The motor was running great. When the boat died, we were able to get it running again. We put the boat into Drive (IDLE). As we were coasting down the channel at idle, the boat stopped running. We were unable to get it back to running condition. Everything was still in place, and did not need adjusting. It would crank, just wouldn't turn over.
It doesn't appear that a gear stripped. We have good spark on all wires and plugs. We tried starting it without the plugs in the block, to clear the cylinders. The carbs do not have an air filter on them. They have an air "pin". The bowls on the carbs were pretty full, so we emptied them. The floats appeared to be ok and clean. We did not re-connect the fuel line, and we used starting fluid and it still would not run. The rotor in the distributor is good.
Any thoughts on this would be great. I am sure it is a minor issue, maybe with a loose gasket or bad fuel. It recently had a tune up, new impeller, and a new water pump installed.
