anybody ever replaced one. pulse limiter goes into the intake manifold and a hose is connected to the fuel pump. it think this is what works the fuel pump.
can eat out of the carbs.
float levels okay.
compression 105 110 105.
fuel lines great.
fuel pump okay/new.
primer bulb no problem.

Runs out of gas at high speeds only.
idles great.
runs smooth untill low of gas in fuel filter. glass filter can see low level.
will pick up if reprimed or if choke is applied.

At high speeds the suction would be greater on intake side of fuel pump, you would think the primer bulb would be collapsed, unless the fuel pump is not really pumping all that well, or there is a leak in fuel line connection or fittings from tank to pump. what type of fuel line clamps are you using?

there are no leaks.
the bulb stays tight and full.
the clamps are real hose clamps.
not wire ties.
no gas going anywhere other than to the carbs.
i'm 100 percent.
now the pulse limiter seems to be the only thing left.

my next test will be to bypass the fuel pump and use my manual primer bulb as the fuel pump. i may have to pump it every 2 min or so; but that will tell me more that guessing about the pulse limiter. i think.i think.

next what about an electric fuel pump? this would remove alot of these questionable parts.

tee in a vacuum gauge between the pump and the quick coupler. See if you have a restriction. Should have no more than 2"-3" of mercury @ WOT. This will eliminate many things.....

would hooking the primer bulb directly to the carb. supply not eliminate all of the other parts including the pulse limiter.

i know the primer bulb back to the tank is good.
i know the fuel pump is new as any has ever been.
i know no fuel/air leaks anywhere.

I don't know how to check or if there is a check for the pulse limiter. Or is this how to check it?

i do know at 4500 rpm it should have about 2.5 psi. of gas.
my problem is no 0-15 psi gauge available to check it with. not close to a big city just got yesterdays paper today.

thanks for the input.

How do you know there are no air leaks?
Is it the correct fuel pump?
How did you deduct that its OK from primer to tank?
Did you insert a clear hose from pump to carbs to check for air leaks?

Is it the correct fuel pump?....................

Is the VRO pump in place or has it been replaced with a regular diaphragm fuel pump? Are you mixing oil in your gas?

Sounds like a high speed fuel restriction. Have you actually pulled the high speed jets, easy to do, and checked for a restriction, does not take much to plug a jet. I can't seem to find a pulse limiter in the parts breakdown, can you explain it a little better, trying to understand what it does.

these carbs were not this clean when they left the factory.
this darling (bit*h) has been setting in the driveway for 42 hours and the bulb is like a POODLE PUP.
is there a market for a real soultion for half of these trouble shooting ways?

item 106 under "Cylinder and Crankcase" called a flame arrestor. Interesting.... as under my 88 Evi 60hp this is item 11 and is called a pulse limiter. I would like to know more about these as well. Supposed to protect the VRO from bacfires from I've read. I'ld like to know if it actually suppresses the vacuum under normal operating conditions, to know if a regular premix fuel pump works ok with it.

The pulse line from the VRO attaches to this fancy nipple getting pulse from bottom cyl reed casing.
