Hi,
This motor is the water cooled model made by Eska, 1986.
When I got the motor a couple of weeks ago, owner told me it needed a carb rebuild. Put it in the test barrel and it started right up, so I put the boat out on the lake to test her out. She jumped up on plane and ran about 1/4 mile, and then died. Had to keep squeezing the bulb to keep her going.
Got the rebuild kit, and cleaned and swapped out the parts. Started her up, but she ran rough. Kept stalling.
Anyway, on a whim, while the motor was laying down, controls up, I choked her and pulled the cord - VROOM! Excitedly, I put her it the tank - NOTHING.
Laid her back down, and she ran smooth as silk. I lifted her up without putting her in the barrel - NOTHING!
What could be causing this? Bad float switch?
I don't know much about outboards, so all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
