1989 110 HP. PRO SERIES EVINRUDE. ON A 24' SUNTRACKER PARTY BARGE DL-24

WHEN I GO TO FULL THROTTLE IT TRIES TO QUIT, BUT IF I CHOKE IT IT WILL GO BACK UP TO FULL THROTTLE. AFTER CHOKING THREE OR FOUR TIMES. RUNS GREAT. IF I LET OFF THE THROTTLE AND TRY TO SPEED BACK UP. HAVE TO CHOKE AGAIN. RUNS GREAT AT IDLE. HAVE CHANGED PLUGS. BUT STILL WON'T RUN AT FULL THROTTLE WITH OUT CHOKING. HAVE CHECKED GAS, GAS LINES, FILTERS. DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO NEXT.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

Usually when a motor won't run without choking, either the carbs are gunked up or the fuel pump is shot. Please find the problem and fix it before running it again, because you will blow up the powerhead running it that lean. When you hit the choke, it richens up the mixture.

Process of elimination, I just went thru the same thing on my 115 evinrude. I first started it after winter and it spit, kicked didnt want to stay running unless I choked it. It was starving for fuel. First make sure your primer ball is in good shape. But first thing you have to take the carbs off and clean them good with sea foam which you can find at any auto supply and if it still runs the same, replace your fuel pump. Good Luck!

It's more than likely it's in the carbs, but a fuel pump is easy to replace. The way to see if it's really the fuel pump is to pump the primer bulb in the fuel line to see if the problem fixes itself when you're pumping the bulb. This is not the same as hitting the primer (choke) button. If it picks up and goes when pumping the primer bulb, then it's the fuel pump. If it does nothing, then it's the carbs.
Also, please don't open 3 different threads on the same problem. It makes it hard for anybody to follow.
