ok, so it has composite stringers as well then? didnt think anyone was making full composite bodies in 1990. learn something new everyday!

Not sure about the stringers, haven't had a chance to dig that deep yet!

I just asked if everything was solid or not, at 2k I wasn't too concerned about the material. I wasn't there while he was going to over the deck and transom, I showed up while he was checking out the motor.

Haha, no worries bud, she was thoroughly checked out! I made sure my boat guy new rot was the only thing that would make me turn down this deal. I'm confident with his advice, he hasn't steered me wrong yet!

Man, I wouldn't even know where to start if I had to rip that deck up and replace everything! That would be a nightmare.

I'm gonna to try and head up to the boat tomorrow, as I will most likely have off tomorrow due to snow. Hopefully the boat place will be open! I'll try and get more pictures of the gut of the boat.

Yeah, I'm soooo anxious to see how she handles the delaware bay! It's kinda hard to see from the pictures, but the V is really, really deep. I think she'll plow through the chop really well. Striper season should be a blast!

I haven't actually opened it up yet, I would guess it's some kind of access to the anchor locker up on the bow. Or it could be nothing.

Man it really sucks being an hour away from your new boat... especially when the storage place has funky hours so I can only visit on saturdays.... Grrrr..

I hope he left some cash inside!! This probably wouldn't be a good dope runner, only has a 225hp outboard and is a very heavy boat. It's prolly a bit underpowered? The panel is actually another access port to the Anchor locker which to my surprise has a brand new anchor inside.

Things to do before spring (not motor related)
1. Scrub every inch of the boat, inside and out
2. Check electrical system and all electronics
3. Re-upholster cabin cushions - they're ALL stained
4. Mount GPS
5. Check fuel - maybe pump out and replace?

Speaking of fuel... It was treated before sitting, is it a no brainier to pump it out? Some people have told me that you can tell the quality of the fuel by the smell? Also, they said, since it's a carbureted motor it should be more forgiving when it comes to fuel? I was told to change the fuel filter and water separator, run the motor for an hour, and repeat a couple times. Does this seem correct? Sounds kinda weird to me. :redface:

When fuel smell bad or not like fuel do not run it. Old fuel makes like a varnish in the engine. A couple years is not bad. % years it will stink like all get out.

So as long as the fuel smells normal I should be okay? Do I have to worry about water, or is that what the fuel water separator is for? She has 115 gallon tank which is half full. If the fuel smells normal and I just fill up the tank, change the fuel water separator, run it for a bit and repeat will I be okay?

Not sure about the fuel...I'd say that it would be safer to run it thru the lawn mower but 115 gallons is an awful lot of grass to cut.

Fuel-injected motors do have more issues with bad fuel, not sure I would want to risk anything on that 225hp Johnson, tough call really.

I don't think you are underpowered...my dad has a 225hp Yammie that came from the factory on his 24' Seaswirl, almost identical boat. You should be able to plane easily, but I wouldn't expect to get much faster than 35-38mph with that set up.

His does have a full hard top so your rig will be more wind resistant...maybe you will see 40 with a balanced load, and the right prop.

I can't imagine being an hour from a sweet new toy like that...my SS is 10 minutes away and I think that's too far.

I Would Drain it & Use Fresh Gas, Bad or Dirty Gas is still usable, I know guys who mix it with new from the pump & use it in the old truck.

Visited the boat today and went over a few more things and took some more pictures. tested all the electronics, lights, horns, and trim tabs. Everything seems to be in working over except for the radio. It would not power up, not a big deal to me, it's prolly something stupid anyway. The Bennett trim tabs are working, just very slowly, I think it's just too cold! It's confirmed, she has a 115 gallon fuel tank, ouch! at $4 plus dollars a gallon... wait, I don't want to think about it. :facepalm:

I'll start out with pictures of the gas tank:
