Thanks for the step-by-step.

I will be doing this to my 17.5 ft Sea Nymph fish-n-ski this fall/winter. Did you put the gluvit on the inside or outside of the hull?

carp,
i put the gluvit on the inside of the boat only also used 3m 5200 sealant on the bolts and rivets...... i also have changed my mind and am staying with the original aluminum flooring, its lighter and dont have to worry about rot.....

right now im not getting much done as the heat here is getting really bad supposed to be 98 today with heat index of 105 or so :( not typical wisconsin weather ...

when i get back to it if this heat ever lets up i will post some more pics of the progress so far. this morning i went out and at least got my wood for the seat bases all measured and ready to cut so i got something done ;)

Yeah Id use as much of the original aluminum flooring as you can Bass, so you have less rot to deal with down the road.

Nice Nymph, you will love her when shes on the lake.

I'm not sure about the wood floor... you have the aluminum... may take some time to clean up but it'd be nice to have. U wouldn't have to worry about rot and its lighter than plywood. Also if you able to get it back all shiny and clean you could place some sort of bedliner stuff like durabak or a vinyl covering like EZ used in his water taxi.

Let's recap:
1) already have aluminum.. little bent... which could be straightened.. worst part is cleaning.. wire wheel or MEK type cleaner; but no addition cost past that; heck you could prob get someone to soda blast it for cheap; Plus no rot ever
2) Plywood route - can't use pressure treated due to aluminum so it would have to be sealed; Weighs more than aluminum and could eventually rot
3) wood finish - carpet or vinyl
Aluminum finish - carpet, vinyl, bedliner

I'd stick with the aluminum IMO

so far so good everything is going together well .....just wish i had a hot foam cutter would make things much easier and cleaner :)

I used a jig saw... makes the work quick and easy... just know there will be statically charged particles everywhere so best doing them in the drive way ;)

well i feel pretty good tonight, i was able to get the rest of the foam board in and also the rest of the swim noodles in the bow.... then i was able to get part of the lower deck in (under casting deck ) until i ran out of rivets..... :(

so i went to town and got my rivets and a new livewell pump for the boat..... (always seem to buy more than what you go for )

i get home and go out the garage to work for a little while and open the first box of rivets and oh crap got the wrong ones.... i got the 1/8 in grip and need the longer grip..... think 1/4 in is what i had been using so now tomorrow morning i will have to drive back to town and exchange them for the right ones..... such is life i guess.... LOL

Re: 1993 sea nymph 175sc sidewinder leak repair

bouttime,

thanks.... it is ABOUT TIME i got this thing done LOL.... i have actually got alot more done today (even with the heat) .. i got the rest of the deck in and the rear/side livewell in place along with the livewell pump and hose and also the bilge pump and hose done...

kind of at a stand still now for 2 reasons i dont have enough livewell hose to run to the front deck off the " T " from the other livewell and not having the right rivets .... also getting ready to go to my camper for the weekend..... guess thats 3 things LOL..

im hoping that on sunday when i det back i can get the rest of the riviting done and put in the hose... then its just a matter of putting on the doors and seeing if i can remember how the front deck goes back together.... and last but not least carpet where it needs it....

i will post more pictures on sunday when i get more done...

well the boat is done and should hit the water this coming weekend so time for me to cross my fingers and hope for no leaks ;)

i would post pics of the finished product BUT...... do you all remember the old dolly parton song, coat of many colors ? well thats my boat, i only replaced carpet on the main floor and back sides of boat and it is blue instead of the original grey :) but it looks ok and should do its job.....

thanks to all who helped and gave information along the way i really apreciated it.....

Don't you know that "Projects" are never done?;)

Nice boat. I've got a 17' Sea Nymph too. It a late 70's though. I wish the inside was built like yours. Should be a more solid boat than mine.

Mine was a dual console, and I'm converting it to a tiller with a 65hp Evinrude.....Hope to put a 6-9.9hp Kicker on it too. Building it for Musky/bass fishing.

Re: 1993 sea nymph 175sc sidewinder leak repair

well, finaly got the boat in the water yesterday (sunday) daughter and i took it out fishing and low and behold there are no leaks at this point :)

the only water i found was from the side live well spilling over the back of the livewell when getting on plane so i have to figure out how to keep that from happening but otherwise im happy with the boat......

now the new trolling motor WOW what a pain... im used to the scissors type with the cable control and the new one is a minnkota powerdrive and that flat foot pedal is going to take some getting used to ;)
