We have twin 1995 DT75's on our 1995 Seacat SL1. Owned it for a year now and all of a sudden the port motor is giving me a warning on the monitor which is illuminating the Temp/Rev Limit light and activating the buzzer. Have checked the oil flow sensor (is clean & functioning to spec).I have not over revved or over heated the motor or run it low on oil. The warning only appears on the port motor. I swapped the temp sensors and the suspect sensor sets off the same warning on the starboard motor. I have ordered a new sensor but have a question. When the key is turned to the ON position is the warning buzzer and temp/rev limit light supposed to come on similar to OMC motors? Also tested the Cylinder head temp sensor and it was to spec. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The both the multi-function monitor panel should light up and the warning buzzer should come on for about 10-15 seconds when the key is turned to the ON position to show that the alarm lights and buzzer are functioning and then they should go off unless there is an existing problem. If you have access to a manual, they provide the ohm reading for the temp sender so you should be able to test it. Also see if the engine has a water flow sensor and make sure it isn't gunked up.

Thanks for the response Steamboat. Yes the DT75 does have a water flow sensor which is what I am guessing is the problem. It just seems odd that all of a sudden it may be functioning properly.
Will let you know how it all shakes out.

Thanks Again

HunkerDown

Also go through the electrical connections from the battery to each motor and make sure all are clean (suggest disassembly connections and clean with sandpaper then reassemble) and tight (especially if you have a battery selector switch) and cover with no-ox grease to stop oxidation of the connection. When the rev limiter engaged, your engine should have automatically limited itself to less than 3000 rpm, did this happen? I had an repeatable overheat alarm on my 1997 DT150 (alarm would reset and not engage again if I shut the engine down and restarted immediately), replaced temp sensors, waterpump, thermostats and finally cleaned the electrical connections and that seems to have cured the problem. Still don't have any idea why the electrical connection and the temp sensor have an issue but engine runs just a good as always and no alarms. The Suzuki manual is hard to follow sometimes, the Clymer manual has good directions but I did find some incosistancies between the Clymer and Suzuki so I would suggest buying both if you plan on keeping the engines for the long haul. Also if you need parts and don't have a local Suzuki dealer, check out Brown's Point Marine on the internet - good parts avialability and fair prices.
