There is a Deka battery company. They use 98% recycled lead in the battery.

Buy a big... Master Battery Switch......It has #1..#2..Both..Off Positions. Install a standard sized car battery. Size 24 or 31.
Interstate was running a factory sale at a local store of theirs. $124 ? Marine Terminals on both posts. Has car and threaded posts. Done Battery is 1 month old and fully charged. :)(y)
I have two EverStarts either 24 or 27's. I've had good luck with them over the years. I have the second one in the boat as a backup in case something happened on the lake. We just recently got back from a fishing trip in Quebec Canada. It's pretty remote and I wanted the redundancy for safety.

I did have a couple of issues on the lake as a result of the nearly 1,000 mile trip.

The starter worked Itself loose, a plug wire separated and the quick connect gas line at the motor side worked itself loose.

But it was a great trip. I didn't have time to figure out how to wire the two up prior to the trip. So I just took the second battery as a backup.

So if I ran them in series, that's over 200 amp hours.

Figuring 1.8 ah for the livewell aerator pump circulating about 15 minutes every hour. I typically fish for 3 or 4 hours in the morning and then the same in the evening. that would be 1.8 ah per trip.

The Humminbird is aprox 2.4 ah per their specs. Running it for the entire trip that should net 11.4 ah per outing.

In the event I would happen to fish after dark and run the anchor light at around 2 ah for 4 hours. That would net 20 ah rounded off.

So if wired in series that gives me 200 ah of battery. I thought that should be sufficient and have leftover for starting.

What I am unsure of is wiring in series and charging via the motor on the water and equalizing them on the water as well as the wall charger.

Wiring in series was wrong. They are to be connected in parallel.
In series they develop 24 volts. That would / could damage electrical parts. You might be the luckiest boater around.

Yes, I just realized I said series. I meant parallel and was coming back to edit.

Thank you, Jeff

There are no virgins in the battery world.
Most major car battery brands, such as those made by manufacturers like Clarios, East Penn, and EnerSys, use high-purity "new lead" in their lead-acid batteries, although the exact sourcing and composition varies by manufacturer and product line. Retailers like AutoZone (Duralast, Valucraft), O'Reilly (Super Start), and DieHard are often supplied by these large manufacturers, selling batteries under their own private label brands.
Major Lead-Acid Battery Manufacturers
These companies produce batteries, often including those with "new lead," for various brands and retailers.
Clarios: A major manufacturer supplying a large portion of the market.
East Penn Manufacturing Company: Known for producing high-quality lead-acid batteries and supplying products like the Deka brand.

I believe your info is incorrect other than they do make recycled one too... I also use lifeline batteries.

I always run two batteries in parallel with a battery selector switch.

Run on one battery so you have the a good battery in case you need it. Also btw, always replace both batteries when buying new.
